Fernando Henrique Cardoso - founder of the Brazilian Social Democratic Party (PSDB), former two-term President of Brazil, distinguished professor-at-large at Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies and Chairman of the Secretary-General's Panel of Eminent Persons on UN Civil Society Relations - is a contradictory personality for many.

Don\'t vote for him, again. written by Guest,

Like other nations in the developing world, Brazil today is more dependent on multinational corporations than ever. Eight years in office, FHC had a lot to do with opening the doors to the multinationals exployding Brasil today. A great majority of the population still living under poverty conditions, similar to Haiti. Leave him at Brown Univ. It's a great place for his Marxist ideas.

dont worry Cardoso will never run again for the presidency, he is age has to be barrier....plus, the PSDB party wants to probably try some new faces. I am almost certain it is going to be Geraldo Alckmin, the current governor of Sao Paulo.....I think he open the vice-presidency to the PFL party, and try to get the PMDB on board too if their candidate to run, who has not been chosen, fails to get off the ground... Personally, Lula will have a very hard time getting relected this time around, I think the race will be very close. I just hope that the vast amount of capital does start leaving Brazil during this election....I think Lula will win in a very close run off race with Alckmin.....But who knows it way to early to tell anything.....

Some of his great work. written by Guest,

How come for eight years in office the country is still practicing slave laber? "Brazil's abundance of land, sunshine and rain make it ideal for sugar cane. Cheap labor adds to the profitability of ethanol; Brazil is said to even harbor pockets of slave labor in remote Amazon areas."

Marxist my ass! written by Guest,

If only Karl Marx knew just what kind of creature they are calling a marxist nowadays... seu esqueleto estaria se revirando no caixão! The author of the article must have been on acid when he wrote it. Fernando Henrique Cardoso sold brazilian state property to bankers and powerful international economic groups (Example: Vale do Rio Doce) and did nothing but favour the rich and screw the poor. The man is the first image that comes to my mind when I think of the word neoliberal. Now how can he be a marxist??? This I will die before I understand.

Have you ever noticed the same look on the faces of all political CON ARTISTS, lips pouted out, and finger pointing.
Im impressed. Youre truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. Im saving this for future use.
