It's unlikely that there was a common origin. In any case, since Newton's time, where have just about all the great advances in Math and technology come from?

I agree that a younger pool of politicians would serve Brasil much better them the old crooks running the country for the last 30 yrs. In my life time nothing have changed in the political arena, corruption is the name of the game. Now, everyone is in the payola. I am not going to bash you. You have said yourself that you like Brazil, for me that counts a lot. However, you should read a book by LaFabber, called Inevitable Revolutions and after reading it, you will see why people blame America for all their woes. I agree with you that Lula is responsible for the terrible economic conditions in Brazil, but to say that our economy doesn't affect yours, I believe you are wrong on this one. The world has a "global market", if a country sneezes another catches pneumonia. That is the price we will all have to pay. Your economy isn't doing so well, just look at the housing market and the scores of bankruptcies, people here are denied health care and education. I went to a D.C. high school last week and felt that I was in a third world country. For a country with so much wealth and opportunity--you will not see this anywhere else, I truly believe in the American entrepreneurship spirit.
Also, stop with the race issues, this is why the world is f**ked up. We are going to destroy ourselves if we don't breed and learn more tolerance.
