President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva addressed the Brazilian people on the morning of Friday, August 12, in a speech transmitted live on radio and TV networks across this vast country. It was three months since the eruption of the worst political crisis in Brazil since the impeachment of one of his predecessors, Fernando Collor de Mello, in 1992.

i hate f**king americans. i am an australian. americans have screwed this country right up with there fast foods and s**t they have brought over.
Because of that australia is turning into a mirror image of america. the influence america has put on the children of australia have got them f**king thinking they are black and acting all black rapper like.
I know its there choice to act that way but if it wasnt for americans then they would never have that influence in the first place. of course this is just my opinion but i still say f**k you americans and get the f**k outta this country and go f**k up your own some more with your wars and fast food and s**t. Stay out of Brazil too.

Way off-topic, but the influence of American culture can be diminished by just not buying into it. Oh, is that difficult for you? Well, don't blame the US, it's you own fault you don't stand up for your own culture and say no to American culture. Go cry to someone who cares, fool.

BUT WHAT DO THEY REALLY HAVE TO BRAG ABOUT?
Americans constantly brag about being the best at everything. In fact, it's almost impossible to have a reasonable conversation with one of them without being harangued on the wonders of the US, its products and citizens. Why is this? Is it a sense of insecurity or a feeling of inferiority?
AMERICANS ARE THE GREATEST DECEIVERS WHO EVER LIVED

NOTICE OF REVOCATION OF INDEPENDENCE written by Guest,
August 19, 2005
To the citizens of the United States of America:
In the light of your failure to elect a President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which she does not fancy.
Your new Prime Minister (The rt. hon. Tony Blair, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need for further elections.
Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:
I. You should look up “revocation” in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up “aluminium. Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up “vocabulary”. Using the same twenty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as “like” and “you know” is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. Look up “interspersed”.
2. There is no such thing as “US English”. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf.
3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It really isn’t that hard.
4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the good guys.
5. You should relearn your original national anthem, “God Save The Queen”, but only after fully carrying out task I. We would not want you to get confused and give up halfway through.
6. You should stop playing American “football”. There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American “football” is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays “American” football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American “football”, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US rugby sevens side by 2005.
7. You should declare war on Quebec and France, using nuclear weapons if they give you any merde. The 98.85% of you who were not aware that there is a world outside your borders should count yourselves lucky. The Russians have never been the bad guys. “Merde” is French for “s**t”.
8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 8th will be a new national holiday, but only in England. It will be called “Indecisive Day”.
9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your owii good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean.
10. Please tell us who killed JFK. It’s been driving us crazy! Thank you for your cooperation (mandatory).
PS Bush is a war criminal and shall be dealt with accordingly.

Millions and millions of South Americans, Brazilians included.....have left their country...to go to the USA ! Even more millions are dreaming to leave their country, Brazilians included ! Their dream is so strong that they were and are willing to go there even illegally !
Have you ever wonder....even one second..... why ??????
100 % of them will tell you....to have a better future !!!!!
A better future compared....to which one ?????? To the one they had or have.....obviously !!!!
Talk to them !!!! So simple

Millions?
I only had heard of a few losers seeking an easier life on US, i.e., no need to study, no need to worry about competition, no high IQ needed. Any loser can actually live there without much worry.
That's a good thing. We get rid of the bad apples and keep the good ones.
Good luck with your new fast food employees, dish washers, toilet cleaners, house cleaners, babysitters, etc.
But beware, as good parasites as they are, they will stay there as long as the situation is easy! If by some reason the situation gets worse, they flee again!

Yess...millions...even more written by Guest,
August 20, 2005
You dont seem to have read me correctly !!!! I said millions of South Americans, Brazilians included. You dont seem to be much interested about what is happening...neither outside your country...or inside your country !
Have you never ever read or heard that since already a few years the Latinos outnumber the Black Americans ?????South Americans and Latinos are well over 30 millions...in the USA !!!!!!! Most but not all, have decided to stay here for life !! Why ????? In Japan, brazilians are the second highest in number of resident foreigners !!!! In Europe you are also by the millions and millions !!!!
Your last paragraph contradicts..your other paragraphs ! You put your fingers right to the heart of your problems...by saying...they will stay as long as the situation is easy and if by some reason the situastion get worse, they will flee again. Using your arguments.....my question to you is why did they leave your country ? And using your own meaning...because your situation is not easy..in fact so bad...they decided to try elsewhere...where they see a future...they did not see in your own country !!!!! SMILE.....
Furthermore, wether babysitters, house cleaners or whatever, they not only make at least 10 times more than doing the same...in Brazil. They are also better treated by their employers...than by their Brazilians employers.....if and when they had one !
They send money back to their families, they save money, and when or if they go back to their country.....they buy a house, set up a business in your country....creating employment and wealth !!!!
Dont call them parasites...because if they did not send money back home.....millions and millions of people of their families would suffer more !
So instead of criticising Americans and your own expats...please be kind enough...read more...and think twice !!!! And usually why do you think they send money home top their families ??????? Because the families....NEED IT !!!!!!!!!
Shame on you who call your expats parasites.
The shame is on your elite and governments, from left to right, who for decades are corrupted to the roots. Curiously this statement...is read and heard all over Brazil...from the corrupted people themselves. The only problem is that by saying so...they direct this critic to the opposition...whoever the opposition is....forgetting...voluntarily....they are themselves as deeply corrupted as the others !!!! It is like a guilty murderer criticising...another guilty murderer !!!

American culture isn\'t an Issue written by Guest,
August 20, 2005
People outside of the US think that American culture is representative of the American way of life. Its not. Its a commodity that is a distraction. Its not real. What is real is the highest standard of living in the world and a very large middle class that can consume. Us culture in the US is not MacDonalds and Hollywood or rap for that matter. All of these things are products aimed at kids with disposable income. The only adults who patronize these products are of substandard intelligence. Unfortunately, when these products move outside North America, because of the international influence of US television programming, the residents of foriegn countries who aspire to the lifestyle portrayed on the shows try to buy a piece of the 'dream'. Whose fault is that? By the way, with respect to Brazil, at least in the US when they show middle class lifestyle on tv, they don't have to pretend. Brazilian soap operas such as Mulheres Apassionada (sorry about the spelling) show elite lifestyles which are far above that of the general population. I don't think that Brazillians realize how poor their country really is in relation to the US.

Furthermore...those who critize Mc Donald should also critize all their local Fast Food restaurants.....who just want to imitate McDo.
Both in Europe and USA..we have...Churascao restaurants...and nobody criticze them. Should we do the same as they do ?????
Australia export more cattle and meat..than the USA. In Australia they have their own Fast Foods chains...similar to McDo. So why do they critize only McDo ???? And what do Australians believe that foreigners do with their meat ???? Into Fast Foods...obviously !!!!
Australians even wish to export their Kangoroos meat !!!!! Have you ever heard someone criticizing this ???????? NOOOOO !!!!!!!
I am not American but European but when someone critize in a non objective way..I react...by explaining he should compare with his own country...before saying he hate others !!!
Without Americans....Europe would not exits anymore...after the last war.
South America would still be under dictature....if there was not a pressure from USA and Europe !
Hundreds of millions of people residing in undevelopped or developing countries are dreaming....to have our democracies, justice, social protection, better lifestyle...even when we are by far not perfect !!!!!
It is better to live poor in a rich country..than living poor in a poor country !!!!! One could ask any local poor or any brazilian expat !!!!!

Who is behind the Brazilian crisis? written by Guest,
August 20, 2005
The true about americans troops in Paraguay and why they are behind the Brazilian crisis: August 9, 2005 -- U.S. base in Paraguay established to protect Sun Myung Moon's water and land resources. With U.S. troops currently protecting Halliburton's oil operations in Iraq and the CentGas pipeline in Afghanistan, U.S. troops are now being sent to Paraguay, complete with immunity from criminal prosecution by Paraguay or the International Criminal Court, to protect the millions of acres of Paraguayan water and land resources bought over the years by religious cult leader Sun Myung Moon. It is not coincidental that Moon's Unification Church has many followers within the Bush administration. Last month, 500 U.S. troops arrived in Paraguay to expand the Mariscal Estigarriba air base to handle large U.S. military transport planes. Moon's land acquisitions in Chaco Province are just north of the huge Guarani aquifer, one of the world's largest sources of fresh water. In addition, Moon has acquired large tracts of land on the Brazilian side of the Paraguayan border. Local villagers in Paraguay and Brazil claim that most of Moon's land acquisitions were fraudulent and illegal. Moon's World Unification Church operates in Paraguay under a corporate contrivance called the Victoria Company. Paraguay has also announced that everyone entering and leaving Paraguay will be photographed and fingerprinted. Not coincidentally, the new border control system is being financed by South Korea. There is clearly a split within the Paraguayan government, with the Vice President and Pentagon neo-con ally Luis Castiglioni negotiating, along with a majority in the Paraguayan Congress, close bilateral military ties with the United States, apparently without the concurrence of President Nicanor Duarte. It is no coincidence that considering the oil-centric Bush administration, the Mariscal Estigarriba air base is close to large Bolivian natural gas reserves in the neighboring Bolivian provinces of Santa Cruz and Tarija. The U.S. move in Paraguay comes at the same time the U.S. is stepping up its "counter-narcotics" operations from its Manta, Ecuador base and Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez is accusing the United States of using Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) personnel in Latin America as espionage agents trying to destabilize his government. In addition, the Paraguayan military operations are seen as a Bush administration attempt to intimidate neighboring Bolivia, where MAS Socialist party and coca farmer (cocalero) leader Evo Morales is poised to become the next President in scheduled December elections after years of popular demonstrations which saw Bolivian workers and peasants deposing a series of pro-U.S. presidents. A Morales government would add another anti-U.S. and free trade government in South America, joining Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Venezuela. So soon, the mothers and fathers of U.S. military personnel will be able to take comfort in sacrificing the lives of their sons and daughters for a self-proclaimed Messiah, a non-English speaking Korean who claims to have saved the souls of Jesus, Moses, Mohammed, Buddha, Stalin, and Hitler and communicates regularly with others in his departed flock of adherents, including all the deceased Presidents of the United States (who, Moon claims, appointed Richard Nixon as their spokesman from the "hereafter"). Huh? written by Guest,

So the US is anti narco terrorist and this is supposed to be the reason why all Brazilian politicians are corrupt? Thus, Lula is part of the Narco Terrorist group and all of the allegations of corruption are a US plot? Therefore Brazilian freedom to support Narco terrorists is being impeded by the US government? Got it.

Why does the entire world hate America? written by Guest,
August 21, 2005
I believe that the world hates america solely due to your big egos your loud brash manner and your brainwashed minds into thinking that you are number one.
Your media has alot to do with the false representation of what america is really like. they paint a picture of little girls all holding hands going to spend a day at the mall all cutesy like reminds me of those ashley olsen twins another excuse to make an american dollar and your movies the amount of times they show your city scapes like please they aint that terrific.
They also show mummy and daddy in there perfect little neighbourhood with there perfect little neighbours and there white picket fences driving there perfect little cars like really sad what reality plane did yous all come off.
What they dont show is the amount of poverty there is the amount of homeless people there are. The amount of crime that there is there.Kids shooting kids a murder every minute.
Your president Bush doesnt help the situation either they havent even found weapons of mass destruction the sole point of going into iraq was to go and find these damn things do all you americans have the same mentality or is it just another ego boost.
Also what attempts has Bush done to track Bin laden a big fat zero. bush goes on about stamping out terrorism and the king of terrorism still eludes him and also where is Saddam? huh
So before you all go on this trip of yours consider this. look in your own back yard before you look into others and criticise it cause the land of milk and honey is deteriorating rather rapidly.
Oh and the only thing your country has going for it is that thing they call the dollar which quite frankly is the only reason why the rest of the world likes you.

You dont realize that corruption in Brazil, tax evasion, money laundering is so deeply rooted..by your politicians and elite....that they are the main enemies of brazilians society. Citizens are their farm's slaves and the country is their farms !!!!!
But YOU elected them...not us !!!!
So now please show and tell them how displeased you are.
In democracies, the elected people, are the servants of those who elected them. But in your country the elected people become owners of society and of the country wealth !!!
Whose interests do you think they protect...by putting the highest interest rate in the world, rate that is well over 2 times the inflation rate, and that citizens must borrow at several times the already very high basic rate.
This just struggle you...not them ! they want you to stay poor and make you even poorer in the future....because the more you borrow at 70 to 150 % per year....the more...you wont be able to make repayment...as long as your inflation is relatively low !
And the more money you owe them money...the less you are free !
Exactly the same as in the case of a poor worker who go to work for a large landowner who advance money to the worker at such high interet rate...that with his low salary...he can not only not repay the accumulated interests due...and even less the amount lent. In fact in a short time, the accrued interests becomes several times the amount lent. And finally you have to bend to him, cannot leave him, because you owe him, legally, a large amount of money !!!!
Dont you see and realize that you are in the same situation ????
If I am wrong, please be kind enough to explain where !!!!
Stand up...wake up !!!! the world loves you

I am not American and America is not a perfect country and I will be honest and say that I dislike this George Bush government as much as anybody here. They are a danger to everybody and most Americans I know would agree.
40 years ago obsessive Americans believed there was a communist around every corner now it seems that many Brazilians have a similar obsession about there being a CIA man under every bed. Frankly I think people over rate their intelligence services.
But blaming all of Brazil’s ills on American is a mistake and nothing will be achieved by it. The problems will simply remain and Brazil as a country will head deeper down the road to chaos.
Personally I don’t believe that America would want a country as close as Brazil on the verge of social and economic collapse…the repercussions of that would become disastrous for America itself.
This is why I believe America is taking renewed interest in the region because they fear all the failing states south of the border. The knock on effect on them is clear to see, millions of people fleeing, similar to Africans flooding into Europe.

Re: From New Zealand commenter written by Guest,
August 21, 2005
New Zealand is a small country very far away from the US. Unfortunately, extrapolating from statistics does not paint an accurate picture of majority lifestyle. By and large, crime and poverty are peripheral. This may be of little consolation to those who are affected by it, but it is not the majority position. Most commentators who complain about the US are either ignorant of the reality of an extremely middle class country or speak from an elitist position complaining that equality is not enforced enough by government. In Brazil there is a very different situation and people are not taking this seriously when they complain that the root of the problem is the US dominance. Its not. The problem is that the local elite wield too much power and benefit from an uneducated populace that has difficulty mobilising any type of political power due to the acceptance of corruption and nepotism as a valid right of those in authority. Isn't that the underlying message in jeitino (spelling?) People are not moral in the same way that they are in more developed countries, yet this fact is ignored by most because it is inconvenient. Everyone knows that 'Americans' are loud and brash etc, but no one explains why they feel justified being this way. My opinion is that, for the most part, their world view is morally based, and therefore more black and white. When they see things that are of an ambiguous nature, their first response is to classify and then react. It takes a great deal of time to understand the subleties (sp?) of foriegn cultures, and when you're on vacation, thats not your first priority. Besides, New Zealand sucks. Ha Ha

The United States: A Satanic Nation. written by Guest,
August 21, 2005
There are 191 nations and one menace called, the United States of America.
The United States is now collecting the fruits from their evil seeds the past several decades. Americans shall live in fear and unpleasant experience of alienation for years to come. The US is imperial, imperious and imperialistic, with a unilateral disdain for international law, augmented by morality and contempt of world opinion.
America foreign policy is shallow, cynical and aggressive. The Pentagon envisions a future in which the United States can and will, prevent any other nation or alliance from becoming a great power with no regards to any sovereignty. These neo-conservatist crusaders will stop short of nothing!
On the fringes of Sept. 11, the United States spoke of rallying the world. Four years later, the United States stands isolated from the entire world, insecure and increasingly arrogant. America’s “pre-emptive or preventive” reason(s) is a slippery slope, a clear threat to every nation on this planet, a deceit to achieve world domination. The empire of liberty is based on lies and greed. The world over better open its eyes before is too late. America is an aberration of humanity, a killing war machine. Americans are pure savages!
As Dr. M.L. King summoned in one phrase “If a man steps on your head…he will keep doing it until the time when you get up.”
Peace

If America was truly controlling the planet like people seem to think then how does one explain the success of countries such as Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, or even the relative success of Latin American countries such as Chile or Costa Rica?
New Zealand is a couple of Islands sitting at the arse end of the world and yet they have achieved a very reasonable and successful economy for a small country
The average New Zealander is as empowered as any European and New Zealand doesn’t even have a fraction of the financial clout of large bodies such as the European Union.
Brazil with it size, natural resources and population should be on the level of at least New Zealand and vastly more, but its not….so the question has to be asked…why?
To me all this “it’s all America’s fault” is just another pathetic excuse for a lack of organizational and incompetence.
Brazil has a lot of Germans down South which also happens to be the most educated, organized and prosperous corner of Brazil….sort of tells me everything really!
