The penultimate Brazilian President to resign was Jânio Quadros in 1962. Eventually, leftist leaning Vice President Jango Goulart was allowed to take office. He was later removed during a bloodless coup on March 31, 1964. The military remained in power for the next twenty-one years.

Brazil needs the SNI back written by qaz,

Brazil needs to create again the American version of the CIA, a secret and modern intelligence service to protect our country against national and international threatens, something stronger and more sophisticated then the Federal Policy. Unfortunately, our biggest threat lies inside our own borders and comes from Brazilians. We have enemies born and raised in our own land.
When the former president Collor dismantled the SNI, he made a mindless mistake. A country of the size and complexity as Brazil needs an intelligence service independent of the military.
However, I don't believe that Americans want to cause us any turmoil. Why? Because of the huge sum of money they have invested in our country. Any serious problem with our economy could be catastrophic for many other countries in the world including the USA. Therefore, let us forget this cheap attack on Americans and focus in fixing our own problems within our country.
