Strange numbers !

I doubt that :
- Embraer makes US$ 3 billions in annual profits.
- Toyota will invest US$ 5.6 millions. Peanuts for a car plant.
- Springs and Coteminas combined are making US 2.4 billions in profits.
- That Toyata will increase their Argentinean annual cars production from 45000 to 65000 by investing only US$ 9 millions.

Please continue to make your articles on the bold and beautiful people but stop your comments on the corporate front !

Too much champagne yesterday night ?

Yeah, entrepreneurs always get along, Americans and Brazilians. They are the same kind of people. But it is true all the bureaucracy just makes things slower and more expensive and all it does at the end is to discourage business and investments. As for Petrobras, I don't know, but my feeling is it will soon be messed up in the mensalao scandal too. The former president disappeared way too quickly, don't you think? Doesn't it make you wonder?

Strange numbers indeed. According to Embraer it made a R$ 166 million profit in the 2nd trimestre (www.embraer.com.br/institucion...S-P-05.pdf )

And yes, embraer is working. It's the worlds leading manufacturer of comercial jets with less than 110 seats.

Coteminas sells some R$ 350.000.000 per trimestre (R$ 1Billion per year), so U$ 2.4 Billion in profits is a bit high
(http://www.acionista.com.br/em...eminas.htm).

My guess, the author is talking about gross sales and not pofit. He also exchanged U$ for R$
Typical Americans!

Americans are always so capitalistic! They are too much into business. If they don't like our red tape, they can take their money and go somewhere else.

just another one of those pro-business, pro-capitalist, pro-brazilian oligarchy, pro-blanco rich, pro-IMF and world bank lap dog articles this one is!

just as brazil's oligarchy, who in collusion with the gringo imperialist are trying to colonize and oppress the non-white people of color, this article is trying to colonize the non-white brazilian population, by their support for right-wing, racist, and pro-white/blanco brazilian business elite.

this is vile capitalist article. down with this crappy imperialist and pro-business article.

what brazil needs to do is tax the s**t out of the white rich brazlians oligarchy, nationalize all farmland and then break the land up amongst campesinos, nationalize all or most private firms, and tax the living daylights about the tax evading white blanco oligarchy in brazil, who work in collusion with the gringo imperialist and their IMF and world bank lap dogs.

viva hugo chavez! viva evo morales! viva castro!

lula has sold out to the white oligarchy in brazil and to the gringo IMF & world bank imperialist capitalist oppressors!!

lula is also a traitor to the true virtues of socialist policies, which he once espoused.

Viva the MST! Viva the movimento sem terra!

land invasion of blanco oligarchy lands in brazil is sacred! more land invasions are needed to help the poor campesinos!

Lula a socialist?

Viva Freedom, free market, freedom of press!!!

Even China is slowly but definitely moving toward Capitalism although maybe a more mild form.

Brazil never had a true democracy in which everyone have access to education, job and a more dignifying life. The problem is that we are infested with radical people from the two political extremities: communists and extreme rightist. They are like pests and never accept the reality of life. People are happier with freedom!

Freedom means free press, free market, and education for everyone, and the capacity of deciding your own destiny.

Chavez is just making his people more miserable! I feel sympathetic with the Venezuelans now suffering under the ruling of such dumb president. Fortunately, Lula is far from being a dictator. By the other hand, Chavez is very dangerous for his own people.

Chavez is no saint, I agree. But from what I heard from a friend who goes to Caracas quite a bit on business, Chavez has given citizenship to Venezuelans. Meaning, now they all have IDs, because they have all become literate, after a huge extensive literacy program that was carried through under Chavez. Before that they didn't have papers because they were illieterate and some crazy law in Venezuela wouldn't give papers to illiterate people. So maybe this feeling of dignity explains Chavez' power in Venezuela? The reason why his people like him so much? He's definetely not appreciated by Bush, but tanding up for Bush seems to be an honorable thing to do. So maybe Chavez is a bastard, but he has done some good things too.
I gave up doing business in Brazil

Why not leapfrog the US and become the richest eonomy in the world? Here's how you do it. Get rid of all regulations and taxes and show down the government. Privatize everything.

Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Naaa...you don't want to be like Hong Kong. Would be terrible. Better to keep things the way they are. Maybe "reform" a little bit. Just tweak the present system, and everything should be fine. The shantytowns are so lovely in the springtime...
