Town of Santa Tereza, Espírito Santo, BrazilIt was January of 2006 when my American husband and I traveled to Santa Tereza, the place of my birth. The town is nestled between coffee-covered mountains a mere hour's drive from the beaches of Brazil. I had forgotten how rustic the town appears and how much it looks like a village plucked by the hand of God from a mountainside in northern Italy and dropped thousands of miles away in the state of Espírito Santo.

A beautiful story. Travel should be easier, so people can see each other more often.
Bravo!!

Dear mariza,

I just came back from Santa Tereza a week ago.
I rented a Palio Fiat four doors to drive my way up into the mountains, stopping here and there for a home made jabuticaba wine.
I took my mother-in law with me. My American husband stayed in the USA working.
I am also 34 years old and this trip was specially to see my grandfather that thank God , is still alive and healthy.
To be there was really amazing. My mother -in-law said that now She knows the colors of the heaven's gates. Green , as you describe the coffee-covered mountains a mere hour's drive from the beaches of Brazil.
Your history brought tears into my eyes because I KNOW, I REALLY KNOW everything your are saying.
Que Deus te Abeçoe! ECO!!

Unless I missed something, the time line can't be correct. If you grandfather was borned in 1881 and his father was already in Brazil your great grandfather would have to arrive before 1881. World War on was around 1916-1920. Interesting story.
