In the late 19th and early 20th centuries an estimated 3.5 million people from all over the world said farewell to their native lands and traveled thousands of miles to start new lives in Brazil. Nowadays this trend has been reversed and hundreds of thousands of Brazilians have moved abroad, in some cases to the land of their ancestors.

Immigration = change ? Nonsense written by A brazilian,
October 17, 2006
I think what this country needs is a different set of values for the people already living here. The current "values" are all wrong and I don't think immigrants would change anything. The "salvation" of Brazil is not elsewhere, it's already here.
I think most of the population in Brazil, either out of ignorance or out of "inferiory complex", has a natural disdain for what's geniunely brazilian. I can indentify something similar in the english speaking countries towards asians. This fascination you have about asians is unexplainable.
Maybe if the US were in Asia and you had chinese crossing the border illegaly you would think of Mexico nd mexicans as examples of "what whatever country needs". Haha

Portugal written by Portugal,

Some real facts: I can speak for Portugal. Since last may, when a new law was passed by the government, there is an estimate by the portuguese officials of 2.5 millions portuguese nationals and descendents in Brazil. Brazilians are the second biggest population of immigrants in Portugal. I can state for myself, there's a large population of brazillians working in advertising, bank, programmers around here. It's true that they are not the majority of them tho. For the last 5 years there have been a large wave of immigrants that althought have some kind of degree, still works in manual labour.

Immigration written by Huba,

In order to obtain permanent residency in Brazil, one has to prove that they have a certain amount of income each month. In America, one only has to show up. People coming to America are looking for a better life. People coming to Brazil are looking for cheap beer, hot women and great beaches.

What's killing Brazil written by Arlete Nunes,
October 20, 2006
As a Brazilian citizen, I would surely defend my country from biased attacks. What's not killing Brazil: Here, there are no terrorist attacks killing thousands of people for political reasons; We don't worry about God's revenge, since here there's no such a huge extent o natural dissasters killing people because of neglicence; also, students have never caused bloody classes; and there's no need to obstruct the entrance of our institutions so that a massacre could be prevented; the American arrogance belches their land as if it were "Neverland"-although it is known who really owns it is Michael Jackson, the model American kid abuser; We are not killed by the shame of having the president involved in sexual scandals; our pilots know how to read a flight map, and are well trained not to kill lots of people-including babies- in foreign countries; We do not need to waste our time publishing xenophobic (get a dictionary) articles due to our humane priorities; Finally, I shall tell you 2 critical things: the capital of Brazil is NOT Buenos Aires, thus we do not speak Spanish, so if any of you clever people wish to reply to my comment, please do it as I did. But, off course, in my language.

Who cares if spain or portugal makes you laugh as long as you laugh while getting the hell out of our countries, go laugh in your country macaca malcheirosa. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME IN OUR COUNTRIES, OR IN OTHER COUNTRIES IN EUROPE. GO BACK. They have brough nothing but nasty sexual diseases crime robberies drugs prostitution, everything we despise. No one wants you in their countries because how nasty you are. With such a rich country they are so burros nem se conseguem sustentar. I can't stand you, voces foram um erro da natureza deveriam ter abortado.

Brazil's export of prostitutes and transvestites is the higher in the world. Brazil also export many people who, in spite of some problems abroad, do free of that smiling ( a so hurtul, hipocritical) deep-seated racism that permeates Brazil Did you ever witness how Africans ( re4ally dark Africans) are treated in Brazil? Brazil is a country that mmakes one crazy ( not just for sex...)
