The famous hat worn by actor Harrison Ford in the Indiana Jones movies was developed at Vicente Cury hat factory in Brazil. Established by a Lebanese immigrant, Cury has been developing hats for men and women since 1920. But no other model has been as successful as the one used in the Hollywood production.

My Indiana Jones Cury Fedora hat: hands off for even $500.00! written by Jason Greywolf Leigh,
May 05, 2007
Before there was an Indiana Jones, there was Errol Flynn, Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, and my dad who all four wore that very style/color of the Fedora. I recently got mine (after the one my dad bought in New York upon returning from WWII where he bought his that I started wearing when living up in Nashville in 1980-82 as a starving songwriter and the hat was stolen) from a tough eBay win. It fits perfectly, it feels great, it looks great and it has a slightly different bend in the front brim that is sort of 'c**k-eyed' and tilts down on just the left side, giving it my own 'look' about it. Being semi-famous in my own right, I wouldn't sale the hat for $500.00, or even $1,000.00, so don't ask. Well, okay. Maybe I'd sell it for a Grand, maybe. Of course, I guess that I am a walking contradiction, in that I have very long (to my waist) white/gray/salt n pepper hair that seems to catch more eyes than the hat, but I think it is really a combo of the two, therefore, let's call it my hat: the "Jason Greywolf Leigh Fedora," and you can't have it! Dear Sir, I'm on the scrounge. On Saturday 02nd June I will be a finalist in the "Tell Your Story" competiton at Listowel Writer's Week and I will need a "Seanachà Costume". If you would be kind enough to donate a Felt hat I would be very thankful. And since Listowel Writer's Week is the most prestigious literary festival in Europe and attracts a lot of media attention your product would get considerable exposure and I will give you a mention in my "Irish Eyes " column at www.pencilstubs.com and www.g21.net.
Thanking you,
Mattie Lennon.

Liar liar, pants on fire. written by Fabio Neves,

The fedoras used by Indiana Jones were never made by Cury. You can check this by yourself watching the making-of feature on the Indy trilogy DVD boxed-set or checking out Wikipedia and IMDB. As I'm a nice guy, I'll paste the relevant parts below.
"The fedora - made by Herbert Johnson Hatters in England for the first film. The Fedora for Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom was made by Eddy Baron of Baron Hats. The fedoras for "Crystal Skull" were made by Steve Delk and Marc Kitter of AdventureBilt Hat Company. Baron hats created the 50's style biker cap worn by Shia Lebeouf as Mutt Williams in Indy 4."
"Indiana Jones's hat came from the famous Herbert Johnson hat shop in Saville Row, London. The hat was the shop's Australian model. On the Bonus Features DVD, costume designer Deborah Nadoolman said that in order to properly age the hat, she grabbed and twisted the hat, then she and Harrison Ford both sat on it, and it eventually looked like "a very lived-in and well-loved" hat."
Cury has been lying for so long now that most brazilians actually believe this instead of the truth.

Hey fabio..take a look at this not-brazilian website made by a huge Indy's fan.....Oh, and search for Cury!!....don't you ever think about that Imdb has made a "mistake"..or even a "lack of information" about the hat and the guy who wrote this article from Wikipedia simply copied this hat information from there? Cury really has involvement with the manufacturing of the hat

Ah...As I'm a nice guy, I'll paste the relevant parts below:lol The Hero Fedora The many characteristics attributed to the Raiders of the Lost Ark fedora also make it much different than the fedoras worn in the sequels. The hat has very distinct features starting with the felt. Back in 1980, a Brazilian felt maker named "Cury" was supplying Herbert Johnson with a top quality rabbit felt which they used to make the fedoras for Raiders of the Lost Ark. The material was a floppy, light to medium-weight felt that was reminiscent of felt used on vintage fedoras of the period in which Raiders was set.
I'm a brazilian just like you, but I recomend that you make a "REAL RESEARCH" next time

Herbert Johnson written by Tariq Saleh,

I am Brazilian and I recently bought a fedora hat form Herbert Johnson shop in London. Well, it's very simple. It's there on the making off of the movies, officially: Herber Johnson supplied the fedora hat for the first three movies, no doubt on that. Herbet Johnson also has a factory and the model is originally BRITISH since the 18th century. I know that HJ doesn not produce a lot of hats every month, so they needed a partner. You see the word? SUPPLY is different from PRODUCING. So, Cury PRODUCED the Hats, while Herbert Johnson SUPPLIED them to the movie. Simple and clear... And i guess, other facotries outside BRazil produced hats to Herbert Johnson, with the same specifications. But oficially, the supplier is Herbert and Johnson. Wikipedia might be wrong, although I don't believe that. But IMDB does not usually publish wrong information. So, it's a joint partnership: Herbet Johnson & Cury. End of story...
