A cornfield in BrazilCorn was once the ugly duckling of agriculture. Prices went on a free fall in the past. But now the commodity is back on top, and once again it plays a key role in the global economy, as it did in the Maya civilization, in Mexico. In the future, Brazil will be an important player in the global scenario of corn as well.

Excellent article ! But......

it is quite strange Brazil criticizes the USA for their Corn ethanol production......with well known arguments...but bad arguments !
Lets face it, you afre criticizing what you plan to do yourselves : produce biofuel with soyabeans !
So much that you already started building mills.

And to the knowledge of everyone, there is more proteins in soyabeans than in corn.

If you effectively would be sincere against corn ethanol production, you would simply not produce biodiesel from soyabeans, but keep the beans/meals/oil for humans and animals
feeding !!!!!

Thus the saying : never trust what a brazilian says...is simply quite appropriate !
AMERICAN CORN ETHANOL IS GOOD FOR BRAZIL

Brazilian agriculturalists don’t criticize American corn ethanol production.

This increase in corn usage for ethanol reduced the amount of corn available for export, creating space in the external market, which will be soaked up by Brazil.

In addition, it has led to a substantial increase in price.

The problem with the supply for human consumption is not related to the amount of food produced, but the equal distribution of income.

Brazil has the capacity to supply this increase in demand not only by expanding the planted area (without the need for deforestation) but also the productivity.

From the Corn Palace in Mitchell Comes this Word....

Ethanol produced from sugar cane is cheaper than that produced from corn.

Neither can compete pricewise with a barrel of crude, not even crude produced from oil sands.

There is too much debate about whether soy products are healthy to feel good about eating something that tastes so bad. Stick with corn, no such debate even exists. The US exports 50% of its soybeans. It would be better to export all of it.
