March 14 marked the one-year anniversary of the Via Campesina's non-violent occupation of Syngenta Seeds' experimental test site in Brazil. Last year 600 members of the Via Campesina occupied the 123-hectare site in Santa Tereza do Oeste, in the state of Paraná, after it was discovered that Syngenta had illegally planted 12 hectares of genetically modified soybeans at the site.

While GMO seeds was still illegal in Brazil, Your Farmers smuggled the seeds from Argentina. Despite being illegal, your farmers planted millions of hectares with the smuggled seeds and refused to pay...the royalties. 30 % of all Brazilian Soyabeans production was with GMO seeds, and then only Brazil voted to legalize the GMO seeds !!!!
Everyone can simply re-read the many many many articles pulished everywhere....including...IN THIS SITE !!!! Dates : 2004 and 2005 !!!!!!!
And concerning Syngenta history...it is quite laughable...on the explosives !!!!! Has anyone ever made a complaint against Chinese ????? they were the inventors or....GUNPOWDER !!!!!! Gunpowder PRODUCED TODAY by the vast of countries...on this planet....including ....Brazil from Brazilian Companies !!!!!
Syngenta's plantation was located within the protective boundary zone of the Iguaçu National Park (the boundary distance has since been modified), which was declared Patrimony of Humanity by the United Nations in 1986.
You Swiss are fighting a losing war against Roberto Requião.One of the greatest sons the state of Parana has produzed.Good luck to you all.

One more exemple of SWISS CORRUPTION across the planet! written by swiss pride,
May 22, 2007
This is what a have been telling here in this site over and over again!!! This represents the essence of the Swiss Criminal mind and kind of congenital corruption that permeates all segments of their societal cesspool. Only the self-righteous quintessential Swiss bastard such as YOU Ch.c would attempt to divert the focal point of the article, to the mentioning of the British explosive maker ICI merger “ because the Chinese did it too. Don’t equate your country to China and its history... it would be laughable!!! Your sad story about Argentina, is unfounded as usual, however you forgot to mention the contamination of your own farmlands and aquifers and ultimately your own people through the use of DDT!!! Yesssss the USA learned a valuable lesson and compensated thousands of people for using your DDT and made its use illegal. The lesson was don’t ever buy Swiss because the appropriate testing that goes with responsible technology, is just not there!!! Now here is an important fact YOU Ch.c missed in this article:
**Syngenta has vowed to fight the decree and has formed a strategic political alliance with the rural caucus (bancada ruralista) in the Brazilian legislature, a group of federal and state politicians representing the interests of the Brazilian rural elite.**
What its really saying is that the Swiss Company Syngenta is trying to bribe Brazilian politicians all the way to Brasilia!!! But since you missed this part Ch.c, I can only assume that this is OK with you because it’s a Swiss corruption on Brazilian soil… right? Yessss laughable you are !!!
What its really saying is that the Swiss Company Syngenta is trying to bribe Brazilian politicians all the way to Brasilia
I hope the company doesnt succeed. Also I sincerely hope that those who occupied the premises of Syngenta are not the members of MST either. It is not that I am anti Swiss or anything, but chemical companies that do not bother about the effects of their products on the fertile soil of other countries should be held accountable for their crimes against Mother Earth. Besides, as a person who knows the state of Parana and its fertile agricultural land, I think that Syngenta should stop planting GM crops.PR does not need such kind of experiments.

should be held accountable for their crimes against Mother Earth. !!!!!!! written by ch.c.,

Dead right Joao ! Who is then responsible for ALL the Amazon deforestation ?????? And who is responsible for planting and harvesting the GMO seeds ? If a criminal kills someone with a gun, should it be the manufacturer of the gun responsible or the one one who used the gun to kill ????? I a logger deforests land, should it be the saw or tractor manufacturer responsible or the ones who use the sawn and the tractor????
Amd as to the junkie Gay Pride. more aprropriate for him, why dont you answer first why GMO Soyabeans has been planted in millions of hectares, by Brazilians farmers, with smuggled seeds from Argentina........WHILE IT WAS STILL ILLEGAL THEN TO PRODUCE 1 GMO GRAIN.....IN BRAZIL ? No one ever went to jail or was even fined by your dept of INjustice !!!!
Ohhhh junkie, who is responsible for the illegal logging...ALL OVER BRAZIL ?
Syngenta is accused of wrondoing......in a farm of 125 hectares......while tens of millions hectares have been illegally deforested !!!!!! And tens of millions of hectares are GMO seeded, which in my view doesnt augur well...for the future !!!!!! Thus it is not Syngenta in particular...that should be accused, but the principle of the GMO seeds......that you enjoy so much all over the country. You could simply restate the old law, provided you apply it.....FOR ONCE !!!!! And apply it to everyone...including brazilians companies and farmers, not only to foreign companies as you do ALL the times. You did the same for the port Cargill built !!!!!!!
You are a clown, you are a true joke ! You are typically brazilian. Who are the corrupted ? Brazilians farmers and ALL brazilians politicians....by simple definition !
I suggest you re-read as I said the hundreds and hundreds of articles on that subject... !!!!!! EVEN THOSE FROM BRAZILIAN SOURCES !!!!!
And to you ALL please re-read carefully what has been written : - The original report, written mostly by members of the PT, concludes that rural violence is due to Brazil's highly unequal land distribution, and because the country has yet to realize an agrarian reform. - Almost every single one of the 34 companies that contributed electoral funds to Lupion's 2006 election is an agribusiness, including two that were found to practice slave labor. While Tubino maintains that no direct financial connection between Syngenta and Lupion has been discovered, he points out that Lupion receives money from other seed companies. THUS NOT FROM SYNGENTA BUT FROM......OTHER SEED COMPANIES !!!!! AND THE LAST ONE : - Although Brazil is one of the world's leading agricultural producers, with the ninth largest economy in the world, according to the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics, almost 40% of Brazilians do not have enough to eat.
IS THAT NOT WHAT I HAVE BEEN TELLING TIME AND AGAIN ? Yessssss....shame to Brazil and Brazilians who prefer to export agricultural products to the tune of over US$ 50 billion...ANNUALLY, instead of feeding first ALL members of its own society !!!
Brazil is a Tropical Mud, the biggest dung , the stinkiest and the smelliest......on this planet ! Just about everything is rotten to the roots !!!

Was your Vice President ALENCAR LYING AS USUAL .....when not so long ago he publicly said : THERE IS NO SLAVE LABOR.....IN BRAZIL ?????? Of course YOUR INjustice dept has never yet jailed a land owner using slave workers !!!!! I bet that the 2 agribusinesses companies mentionned in the article for having used/still using slave workers ....ARE BRAZILIANS ! Otherwise your INjustice dept would have put in jail some of the company management !!!!!
I still think that in the name of infamous Swiss neutrality, you guys are corrupting the politicians in the emerging countries and teaching the big farmers how to exploit cheap labor or slave labor. Of course, when the things get too hot for the criminals, you give them asylum too (they already have bank accounts in your country).
As I said earlier, I am not Anti Swiss, but something stinks about your "neutrality" and the "bank accounts". btw, I also get perturbed by the fact that you target only the Brazilians and blindly defending your industries. There my friend, you are not neutral. You always criticize people like us, without giving any solutions.
btw, I hope the state of Parana confiscates the 125 hectares of the land and I really dont know why Syngenta is making an issue about it. They can easily go to Africa and conduct their experiment.
Oh, Ch.c,let me compliment you for teaching me the word "Lupion".It is funny and you are right about him!!!

Swiss Truth written by GTY,

What's the difference between Syngenta...or ADM, or Cyprus Minning, Ford or GM? You Brazilian's have sold out your own country don't place the blame on the Swiss, or Americans, which in itself is not a bad thing if everyone benefits, but the problem here is the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. You have destroyed the Amazon basin your largest single resource and continue to do so, Hati did the same thing, shame is on you. Trashing a Syngenta or any other multi-national biotech/bioagra is stupid, your own President plans on increasing your Ethanol production to fuel the US, drviving up basic living costs for most Brazilians, more thoughtless explotation of people and land...so the Paulista's can buy new choppers and upgrades on their second homes in Angra.
Sounds like an MST or Sim Terra operation to me, I am sure that the Brazilians benefiting from Syngenta will soon load a bus up with masked men with revolvers and shotguns and vist the peasent camps in the middle of the night and massacre everyone including women and children...it is in fact a Brazilian tradition. While the Gilligans of Brazil and the Brazilians sing to their poor countrymen...don't worry...be happy.
Oh, the massacre will make the front page of Globo and will be met with false outrage. The FP will do an "investigation" they always love those as they usually end up with a suitcase of money, bribes from the landowners. Then in a day or two all will be forgotten until the next one.
Wow, the PT has kepy all their wonderful promises, as my wife says "nothing changes" and never will.
Joao states he is not "anti Swiss" but he lies again, saying how much he despises the French, Swiss and other Europeans in other posts calling them child m******rs and predators (which has some truth to it), then he goes on to talk about his wonderful experiences with American's and Canadians, white American and Canadians, he shows his racism when responding to black authors on this blog or E-Harmony and especially myself, he loathes hispanics calling us beaners and w*****ks. He, the Professor and AES...the 3 amigos? No the three klansmen.

First GTY you have to sort it out your anger...? Second you can't have both ways in one sentence you flip flap your position 3 times. Or you are for the big corporation and exploration of cheap labor goes hand and hand... but it also creates jobs and yourself many times said that Brazil must open to its door to foreign exports???? Only an idiot would understand this as the Brazilians selling their country... and yesssss you could be that one!!! You seam to be angry with the rich in Brazil but you would be the first to crucify Chavez Doctrine...would you? Your understanding of economics is typical of a born again Christian American TV evangelist that escaped to brazil to avoid going to prison for tax evasion... how do I know? I know the type... and you sound just like it!!!! I bet you go around the favelas taking pictures for your web site so you can ask for donations and keep $.90 cents on the dollar??? How do I know all this? This kind of demagogy and self-serving rational can only be found in people like you! Nice day!
Joao states he is not "anti Swiss" , saying how much he despises the French, Swiss and other Europeans in other posts calling them child m******rs and predators (which has some truth to it)
I told ya, they are child m******rs and predators. You never believe in me.

Huh? written by GTY,

Need to work on your English a bit, your posting is written like a childs dribble. You can have it both ways, it is not that difficult to understand. If you allow large multi-national companies into Brazil to capitalize on your labor market and create a business friendly enviroment, large corporations would flourish. If the Government used the taxes these multi-nationals pay as well as hold them somewhat responsible to provide a decent wage and benefits, it could help lift poor Brazilians from poverty. Instead, the taxes and profits are wasted by the Government and banked by the rich.
I'm not angry, why would I be. I don't live in Brazil, but here in the good old USA. I don't have a website to collect any money, I make my living selling chemical products, a lot to drug companies your country for a very large multi-national (German) company. Again, I am far from angry, I wake up everyday happy for the blessings.
Actually, I have mixed feelings about Chavez, while I don't always agree with Chavez, there is something about him I admire. The rich elite in Venezula are pissing their pants, it's a day of reckoning. The rich in Brazil are smug and comfortable, while Lula claimed to be cut from the Chavez mold, he has turned into a clown monkey. Brazil is and always will be a country of never realized potential.
The Evangelical movement in Brazil is being lead by Brazilians. They prey on the uneducated and unfortunate. It is demagogory and it is shameful. I attend church, not the Catholic one I grew up in, but feel it is important. You seem to be angry at God, perhaps if you tried to find out why, you would find some peace.
Thanks for wishing me a "nice day" but my days are always "nice". Are yours?
This all reminds of Itamar trying to wreck Cardoso - and Brasil in my opinion - by defaulting on Minas Gerais' debt. Why would a country with comparative advantage in agriculture pick a fight with a world leader in seed science? And, what has Syngenta done compared to all the farmers who have violated their contracts with the company and sold contraband seed? My understanding is that bio-engineered crops have proliferated in the Southern Cone region due to farmer-to-farmer transfers in violation of the seed companies' right to exploit their own intellectual property. Joao or whoever, please correct me on all of this if I have the facts wrong. I am all for states' rights, but is this really what we are talking about here?
I am all for states' rights, but is this really what we are talking about here?
No, we are not talking about just the states´s rights.Your guess is as good as mine.Lot of money to be made and votes to get.I only hope Syngenta will " not try to bribe the politicians all the way to Brasilia", but fight it out in the courts to prove their case. They can afford to pay good lawers, unlike many small businesses owned by Brazilians or Foreigners.
Despite being illegal, your farmers planted millions of hectares with the smuggled seeds and refused to pay...the royalties.
