GPiX, GM’s Concept Car Designed and Engineered 100% in Brazil

GM car GPiX designed in Brazil Brazil's General Motors (GM) is going to present, in the 25th International Automobile Trade Show, to take place from October 30 to November, its concept car Chevrolet GPiX, totally developed at the company's Design Center in São Caetano do Sul, in the Greater São Paulo, in Southeast Brazil.

According to the company, the car is a "crossover" coupé compact passenger vehicle with off road appearance. The company informed that it does not yet operate in the sector in the Mercosur (the economic bloc that includes Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay). The vehicle was designed taking into consideration emerging markets.

The name is a combination of the letter G, referring to "global", and "Pix", an abbreviation of "picture". The objective is to give a "global image" of a vehicle of the kind developed in Brazil.

Except for design, the engineering of the vehicle, according to GM, is also 100% Brazilian and may serve as a basis for future cars made by the brand for developing markets.

The GM Design Centre covers an area of 3,000 square metres that employs 79 people. The factory announced investment of US$ 36 million to triple the space and expand the number of employees to 190. It is one of the five centres of the kind that the company has worldwide and its responsibility is to design global vehicles.
