Brazilian familyIf not maddened by it, whoever bothered to review the statements, interviews, debates, and documents that emerged from the Brazilian administration’s recent extended cabinet meeting would at least have fallen into a state of deep perplexity.

Wading through the clutter
written by Guest, December 29, 2004
It is so difficult to understand what is true, what is inuendo, and where we will go. The press publishes so many half truths, speculations, and out and out inacuraces, that who knows were we are heading. How can the world trust the economic numbers being churned out daily by the government, when the research is so flawed. How can we have an accurate picture of growth, inflation, taxes, or contributions, when 40% of births are never registered, 30% of the population does not exist. The same people who publish the numbers are been arrested in by the hundreds for laundering money and corruption. Sorry, as a small businessman, there may be a few people benefiting from the new economy, but to most Brasilians we are heading in the wrong direction.

Brazil will be ok! Brazil has been through many disasters, many political governments, many economic difficulties, but the dear Brazilian people will survive - they have a tenacity and courage that rivals any other nation. I admire them for their generosity. During a drought in the northeast where I lived, I saw poor people bring help to those less fortunate.
The Brazilians have a generous heart and love life and family. Viva Brazil!
Buried our last hopes?
written by Guest, January 01, 2005
Sorry...but this is not possible. Brasil lives with hope, it is this that allows us to wake up in the morning and face a new day, or in this case New Year. We survived a decade of dictaorship and corruption, 8 years of the "socialist" Cardoso, we will survive 4 years of the "Last Great Leftist" Lula. Our hope lies in future leaders who can make a difference. This is something I pray for each and everyday. We Brasilians have hope for Brasil and the world, our planes have been leaving daily for the areas impacted by death and destruction, it's not a lot, but it is what we can give, perhaps God will see.
