The economists prefer the verb "grow" while the poets choose "flourish." The politicians sided with the economists and were for decades successful. Our cities grew in population, number of buildings, shopping centers, viaducts; but they also grew in criminality, misery, abandoned children in the streets, child prostitution. The cities grew but without flourishing.

I guess it just goes to show why most people who are entreprenuers and owners of midsized companies that have to rely on creativity and not government influence and subsidies consider an mba degree worthless. You are probably either unemployed or employed in the corporate suck up world where they creame for jackasses like yourself because they know they will do the s**t work the actual creators (see bill gates, michael dell ect. don't want to do). You are as much of a jackass as Barque, just on opposite sides of the spectrum. Signed a REAL white american who's family helped to create that country so jackasses like yourself could shoot off your ignorant opinion. You are probably a decented of the irish or some other ignorant minority.

Some of you are so ignorant written by Guest,
January 06, 2006
Stop being so ignorant and turning everything into a "white" racial thing. It is about a lot more than race. Brazil is a wonderful, beautiful and dynamic country. There are many problems that cannot be solved in even a generation, but all of us who love Brazil should work to better it and work to find solutions to the many economic and social ills that keep the status quo going - letting the 5% with money get richer and the rest of the people fight over what is left. I have traveled the world and, with the exception of African nation, I have never seen a country like Brazil where there is so much classism and racism. The upper class and even the middle class segregrate themselves and try to protect their power and keep the poor where "they belong." Share the wealth and find real problems to the ills that plague Brazil. The country is full of resources that should allow it to be a western power.

Ignorant forum member !!!! Brazil never ruled Portugal, not even for 1 year ! IT WAS JUST THE OPPOSITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is your name MOORSTUPID ?
And to second previous forum member : YOU ARE DEAD RIGHT : BRAZILIAN CITIZENS ARE THE MOST LOVELY AND LIVELY PEOPLE !
They deserve much much better.
This is why I am so strongly against the actual government and politicians.
ALL their statistics are incoherent and simply trunked.
They lie openly, through their teeths. More or less corruption exists everywhere. But for Brazil there is an expression, not from me, that they are : corrupted to the roots.
Not without reason.
At every corruption scandal, it is even the brazilians who invented the expression : everything will end up in a Pizza !!!!!!
Just read today's news for fears on this subject.
Lula has simply betrayed all his voters. He was strongly against corruption for 30 years before he was elected and now, having been elected, corruption in Brazil is at the highest ever rate during his mandate.
This guy is simply sick, mad and INSANE !

I dont really like Chavez, but he did far more to his citizens than Lula did for brazilian citizens.
Eventually, Chavez should rule Brazil. Finally some profound changes would be finally made in favor of justice, social inclusion and wealth inequality where Brazil languishes at the queue of all rankings done by reports from International agencies and even Brazilian ones.

"The Brazilian government needs to hire some "real" white people from America or Europe to get the sh-t running in that country. Brazil calls herself a predominantly white country. Liar Liar Raggedy Assed Pants on Fire"
So does the U.S. call itself a predominantly white country. Also a lie. "real" white people? only from Europe (or maybe Canada, Argentina or Uruguay), since a majority of "white" Americans are of mixed backround. Almost half meztizo, a quarter mulatto. Don't believe me? ask around. Almost nobody will admit to being part black (if they're even aware of it), but most will be proud to tell that they're part Cherokee or whatever... and that makes them meztizo, as in mixed, as in about as white as most white Brazilians.

"You are probably a decented of the irish or some other ignorant minority."
Like the English? English, Irish, African, and Spanish-speaking Americans each account for about 10% of the U.S. population and are therefore all minorities.

that is true written by Guest,
January 07, 2006
that is true, in regards to the above post, that many americans are actually mixed. But the percentages are usually so small as to not really mean much of anything unless you are such as racist as to think that even one drop of blood anywhere in history makes you non-white. There was a dna study that some proffesor did at, I believe penn state, that according to his sample a full third of american whites had a small "touch of the tar brush". This especially makes sense if you look at it from the standpoint of "real" americans. Those of us who's ancestors have been here way before the large immigration waves of the of the late 1800 's and early 1900's. At revolutionary times the blacks made up a much larger percentage of the population in many states than they do today. (The percentage relative to the white population went down as whords of european immigrants came over in the late 1800's). There was also great incentive for people who were part black such as muldoons and octeroons to hide it if they were free and not still enslaved. Now for every one that crosses over they infect many in generations to come and the longer your ancestors have lived in the US the more chance of this having happened. Or as huey p long the former gov. of louisiana said in the 1930's "you could feed the number of pure white people in louisiana with a spoonfull of rice for a year." As for myself, if this applies in my case, I really couldn't care. I'm still a white american, and if many of us whose ancestors created this country happen to have a little mix in them so be it. It hasn't stopped us from creating the most powerful country on the planet nor stopped millions of europeans, whose ancestors now also call themselves americans, from wanting to immigrate.

in regards to the downfall of the USA in the above post that very well could be true I don't have a crystal ball...I was only trying to point out that having a little mixed blood didn't hold back our ancestors from creating the most powerful country in the world, which is an undeniable fact. I was not trying imply that the america was great in any other way. That is for each one to judge.

Thanks for????, Lies and The Truth written by Guest,

Actually, the Bible says that the Moors were a descendants of Ireland. They ruled Portugal and Spain for 469 years before moving to Brazil in hopes of having a greater opportunity for them and their kinfolk. The Bible also indirectly states that the Brazilian people have been chosen by God. Right now the Brazilians, like on this site, are being persecuted just like other chosen peoples were in the past. But it's only a matter of time before Brazil rises to unfathomable power in the world leaving every other nation in the dust. The United States, England, DJibouti, and all other nations will be like mice to God's chosen Brazilians. Such has been fortold in the book of Revelations. The statue of Christ overlooking Rio is a precursor.

Agree with article written by Guest,
January 10, 2006
Well I agree totally with the writer of the article. As a European living and working here for ten years I still find the degree of apethy about Brazil's condition, amongs most people, quite alarming. Spain used to be like Brazil, yaers ago when I worked there, but look at it now.Isn't it time that some real action was taken to make children attend school instead of roaming the streets in droves begging money? Shouldn't teachers be much, much better trained than they are? And what about the shame of institutionalised corruption at seeming all levels of society? I mentioned this to sombody a while ago and was to to 'piss off back to Europe if I didn't like it' But then what would happen to all the people I employ. Increase the unemployment figures I suppose. Nice solution!

if children attend school who the hell is going to shine my shoes and entertain me by juggling while I wait for the light to turn green? These are important jobs, because they help ME. If we fix our problems next thing you know the supply of street children will get so low we will have to import shoe shiners and jugglers from Bolivia. As a nationalist I say NO TO BOLIVIAN STREET KIDS!

If children attend school....... written by Guest,
January 17, 2006
Thanks for your comments but I am from Bolivia and you have really angered me. I juggle with burning sticks, play the pipes and occasionally even "swallow" fire (depending on weather - windy days, not so good). I consider that I offer a much wider variety of entertainment than the Brazilian mob, which results in far greater consumer satisfaction. And I can even arrange to bring along a dancing bear too. Don´t put us down just yet or I might just take your shoes away and juggle them, then try and catch me! Pancho.

I have a wedding soon and would like to know how much you charge for your services. I´d be particularly keen on seeing the bear and would like to know if he is able to lip synch as well as dance? Finally, is he ok around hyperactive children or would he be likely to eat them. Thanks.
