Geneva is a good place for their indulgence, unless some our fellow bloggers have better ideas. And beware of Saving more. Their savings might be confiscated and returned in 18 equal monthly installments a year later. smilies/wink.gif

Enjoy the shopping trip and but keep your eye on the old spectre of inflation
"Enjoy the shopping trip " ????

Only the minority elite will enjoy. The vast majority of citizens will continue to struggle...as usual !

And to Joao "Geneva is a good place for their indulgence" !
You are certainly right.
I suppose this is why Geneva...
- is the world headquarters for far more 100 International Agencies and more than 100 NGOs headquarters.
- Kofni Anan wants to make Geneva the world center for Humanitarian Foundations.
- the city is a shopping Mecca for the most Wealthy Arabs. Some of them book a Whole Floor for 2-3 months. A few of the wealthiest book
the Whole Hotel...also for 2 or 3 months.
- in 2003 the King of Saudi Arabia, booked 600 limousines 24/7 for 3 months, hundreds or hotel rooms and spent US$ 500 millions in 3 months ! True Story ! smilies/grin.gif
- Every year most Arabs Kings, sheiks, come here for 2 to 4 months during our summer months.
- Most of them also have espensive homes and chalets in the mountains. Yesss Arabs love......snow !!!! Thus most come twice ...not only once. And they come year after year.

I suppose the World Wealthy people know why they prefer coming for vacations in Switzerland (not only Geneva) and not chose....
Brazil ! smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/grin.gif smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/grin.gif

In simple words the reasons are :
Security, safety, clean, peaceful, best quality but at a price, excellent infrastructure, no corruption, privacy respected.

Ohhh and at the same time...they meet their bankers..of course.

But believing Arabs are/come here for tax reasons is wrong....obviously ! They are NOT subject to income or corporate taxes anyway in their
own countries.
Furthermore.....

Is Switzerland not ranked at or close to the top....
- World Most Ecological Country ?
- World Most Lively Country ?
- World Most Competitive Country ?
- World Most Clean Country ?
- World Least Crime Rates ?
- World Least Corruption Rate ?
- World Best Infrastructure Country ?
- World Most Peaceful Country ?

Yesss we are the envy of the world !

Nooooo we are not Paradise.....but we are certainly closer to Paradise than Brazil is !!!!!

I am right as usual and thanks for confirming the fact! When I suggested Geneva for these nice folks with lots of money, I had you in my mind as our point man in Geneva to receive them with open arms and display the famous Swiss hospitality!! The information provided by the writer of this article is indeed invaluable from business point of view.

Can you imagine how it would be to resuscitate Swiss Air and fly chartered fights between S.Paulo and Geneva every week end to help them to go on a shopping spree. Their savings can be deposited in the Swiss banks too.Ch.c, this opens up plenty of business opportunities between SP and Geneva-needless to say under our coordination smilies/wink.gif

On a more serious note: What is going on between Nestlé and Garoto? Clue us all in, please.

Petty crime has increased, particularly in Berne, Zurich and Geneva. Pick-pocketing and purse snatching occur in public areas, such as in restaurants, at ATMs, in parks, on the street, at airports, on public transportation, and in train and bus stations. Thieves often operate in tandem, with one distracting the traveller while another snatches any valuables. Never leave bags containing money, airline tickets, credit cards, or passports in the trunk of a parked car or anything on car seats. Travellers should exercise caution on trains, especially on overnight trips to neighbouring countries.

Is your country safe to visit, Jon?

Joao,

It is certainly not as it used to be, my point is that crime exists everywhere in this world, of course with varing degrees. There is also safe places in Brazil.."third" world conditions in "developed" countries as well

I agree with you.The crime rate increases more when a place is promoted as a "Mecca" for the tourists. It is not restricted only to Brazilian cities, but all many other cities in the world. I know some friends who were robbed in a train while they were visiting France years ago.I guess it depends on the attitude of the tourists too. With a careful research on the country you intend visiting, one can take precautions to avoid getting into trouble and enjoy the visit.

Paintings stolen in one of Europe's largest art thefts have been discovered in a parking lot in front of a psychiatric hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, according to local media.

The area around the Psychiatric University Clinic was closed off Monday evening and Zurich police spokeswoman Judith Hoedl said that a suspicious vehicle had been found.

A photo released by Swiss police shows a reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's painting Blossoming Chestnut Branches. One of four masterpieces stolen from a Zurich museum on Feb. 10.
(Keystone/Stadtpolizei Zuerich via Foundation E.G. Buehrle Collection/AP) She did not divulge whether it was connected with the Feb. 10 robbery from a Zurich museum in which works worth $163 million US were stolen.

The clinic is only a few hundred metres from the museum.

On Feb. 10, a trio of armed and masked men ran into the museum half an hour before the facility was set to close and threatened staffers.

They snatched four paintings by Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet.

Some experts have suggested organized criminal gangs are behind the heist as the value of works of art at auctions climb.

Local TV station TeleZuri quoted a witness as saying that the car contained three paintings bearing the name of the museum. Among the pictures was Claude Monet's Poppy field at Vetheuil, the witness said.

Radio station Radio 24 also reported that the building supervisor at the hospital found the paintings in an unlocked car.

Forget about Ch.c being a Swiss. He is really from Kosovo and responsible for working with his close friend Kofi to declare his home country independent. If Ch.c stands for the election for the President of Kosovo, I will be the first person to vote for him. I suggest you cast the second vote smilies/wink.gif
