There has probably never been a better time for a worker to find a good job in Brazil than at the moment. The economy is growing, shrugging off most of the fallout from the crisis in the United States, consumers are buying as if every week was Christmas, real pay is rising and millions have been moving up the social ladder into higher classes.

The finance minister Guido Mantega wanted to put some limits on credit since he feared the long payback periods could cause problems but he was slapped down by Lula who knows that the current spending spree reflects well on him and his government.
Guido is overly worried. The good news is that his boss "slapped him down" (probably a slap right on his face) and not to express his unsolicited opinion.
He has every reason to feel pleased since a recent opinion poll showed that 58% of those surveyed thought his government was doing a good job. His own personal approval rating jumped from 65% in December 2007 to 73% by the end of March 2008.
His approval rating is going to jump to 100%, real soon. Just wait and see Mr.Iggins.

I hope Pettrobras do not announce more oil discoveries written by John Miller,
April 23, 2008
Hi, Absolutely right about Lula being the luckiest president on record. He should take a lottery ticket. Not that he has done anything that much different from the previous president Cardoso. But the thing that troubles me is everytime Petrobras announces it has found more oil, the $Real appreciates, and this does no one in Brasil any good. Tell Petrobras to put a cork on exploration, and focus on what it can extract now, and this would alleviate some of the pressure on the Brasilian Reauro!($Real)

I hope Pettrobras do not announce more oil discoveries
As per your request, Petrobras has postponed the announcement of another oil geyser that started spouting "black gold" off the coast of SP,where the epicenter of last night´s earthquake is located. However, Lima may anticipate the announcement by appearing on the TV tonight. Please do make sure that you don't sell of your stock in Petrobras till tomorrow evening.

I would not be too optimistic on world growth even though its good Brazil is growing along with CHINA written by John Doe,
May 23, 2008
I think its good Brazil is growing along with China. Along with new oil discoveries and an improve trade with the world, but I would be cautious in the future with growth rates in the coming years with emerging economies.
The world for the first time this year is facing a deficit in Oil the world will consume more oil than what is currently being produce. New Oil discoveries takes at least 10-15 years to come on stream. Brazil was very smart to buy most of the oil riggs in the world.
Also with ethanol it will push up prices of food around the world along with oil.
A weak dollar is not good for Brazil or the world. Why? Because dollars are in most counties coffers as reserves. if the dollar the decline then the counties backing to the currency declines which are dollars. And there is no currency yet to replace the dollar. The Euro is not as liquid as the dollar and has never been through a financial crises such as the U.S experience like 1987, 2001, 1979 etc.
The world is not through the storm yet and decoupling seems like something we all want but with the dollar falling and and the oil crises at our door steps, the crises has only began to surface. I would proceed with caution in the next few years as the crises unfolds around the globe.
