Pinheiros Marginal in São Paulo, Brazil The financial crisis which has hit American and European banks has cost tens of thousands of workers their jobs. One side effect of this has been a rise in interest by Western bankers in other markets, particularly in India, the Middle East and the Far East.

All this means that there are jobs aplenty for skilled financial professionals whether investment bankers, traders, analysts, consultants or tax specialists. The choice is your - out of work in Wall Street or making it in Avenida Paulista. Are you ready to go for it?

I don't think that Ch.c would be "ready to go for it". He is happy to be where he is smilies/wink.gif

Any counter comment, Ch.c?
Commuting
written by jakob, May 28, 2008
While most workers in Wall Street cannot afford to live in Manhattan and head off in the late afternoon/early evening to the outer boroughs or to their suburban homes in New England, the São Paulo financial workers live in the city and are at their desks much longer.

That's probably because, given the severity of traffic jams in Sao Paulo, nobody in their right mind would endure commuting several hours to and from their workplace.

The newcomers can always bring Hang Gliders to commute (and Boats when the city gets flooded after heavy rains).
Why should they go to Brazil......

when they are offered far higher wages and perks, WITHOUT INCOME TAX, in the Emirates, and/or Singapore ?????

Brazil is not by any means a world financial centers.....in view of the many taxes you charge to all investments, income, VAT, wealth, banking taxes and fees, just to name a few.

Wake up....you are decades away of reality. In 2008 so far Brazil had ONLY 3, YESSS THREE NEW stocks issues !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And none of them for large amounts.

And SP is also world reknown for the traffic jam. Therefore making anyone believe it takes less time to go to work is totally wrong.

A little secret now : Geneva is not courting those who have lost jobs, but those who still have their offshore hedge fun.
Geneva has been ranked 2nd after Zurich for the most liveliest place on earth.
And I bet 10 to zero that people need LESS time to go to work than in SP.
Better yet, the security climate and the cleanliness is 20 TIMES better here than SP.
Not to mention the tax deals we offer....of course ! smile

You want the losers....we want the winners.
Hey hey....enjoy
Sao Paulo Rocks!

I lived in Sao Paulo for 6 years... and wow I'm miss all that!

The city can be busy... but when u r there u feel so alive!

Miss the bakeries, bars, restaurant, people smiling to u..co-morkers saying good morning...... people going over night and smiling on the other morning.

Actually in Australia (which is good but not great) I miss Brazil from the bottom of my heart.

Those against it..should do there and see it before make bad comments from a chair in Europe.

Ps.: I worked for a Switerland company...and all swiss executives felt in love with Sao Paulo aswell.

First time you get robbed, or kidnapped, or one of you fellow smiling co-workers get shot or killed, you will change your mind about how nice Sao Paulo is.

The pay/living cost is outrageous. You can hardly make a decent living in Brazil.

I'm from there, but never going back... smilies/sad.gif

It is a well known secret that all those Swiss executives were hired by Ch.c and hence happy to be in São Paulo, far away from Geneva and their tyrant boss smilies/wink.gif

Thus why Sao Paulo has NOT BEEN named one of the world most lively city...by these executives ??????

Fact being this ranking is done by high business executives.....if you did not know !!!!!!

sorry buddy.....it is not me who made the rankings !

Here you will hardly need more than 20 minutes to go to work...by car !!!!!! Also I work mostly from home....I just WALK 10 minutes and I am at the center of the main shopping street...where there is also my office. I can walk 200 meters more and I am at the border of the lake. Can walk 7 minutes and I am at the rail station. The airport is a 15-20 minutes drive from the city center. Take a map and within a 600 miles radius...we have most Europeans Capitals.
And all these capitals can be reached easily by car, train or plane.
We have the world best infrastructure.
Drive 1-2 hours and I am in a ski resort, Swiss or French.
To go to Cannes, Nice, St-Tropez or Monaco is a 5-6 hours drive. Around the same for Genoa, Marseille, Milano, etc etc etc.
Paris is a 5-6 hours drive or 60 minutes or so by plane.
Nice being a 80 minutes distance by plane if I want.

Stupid question buddy : why 200 International agencies have chosen Geneva as their headquarters and not SP or Rio....if it is so good...there ?????

Finally....SP is a very dirty city ! Not Geneva....if you are not aware !!!!!

Ohhhh simple stats : the 2 SP airports in 2007 had 35 millions passengers for a state of 40 millions people.
Geneva airports had 11 millions passengers for a state 450'000 people.
Do the simple maths...and see who is the most appreciated !!!!
