The new president of the United States, Barack Obama, campaigned on a promise of "change." His election as the first African-American to America's highest office already achieved one big change.

rich countries should invest funds directly in protecting Brazil's forests written by ch.c.,
January 14, 2009
1)But why in the Brazil's forests...SPECIFICALLY ? To my knowledge the Amazon covers 8 or 9 countries not only Brazil !
2)If as Robbing Hook said so many times that the "Amazon" belongs to Brazilians, then why dont Brazilians alone take care of it ?
3) And if as Robbing Hook said also so many times, that foreigners have Noooo say for the Amazon, then why should developed countries pay ONE CENTAVO ?
4) Does Brazil contributes money wise, for the forests preservations in others countries than Brazil, including the Amazon that belongs to the other countries, or forests to be preserved in other continents ? OF COURSE NOT !
Keep Your Amazon..and do whatever you like it with it, just as you do it NOW ! At the end you are getting to digest your deforestation..AND YOUR OWN POLLUTION...well before your fumes smogs reach developed nations !!!!
Dont worry....we will provide you with the necessary meds to survive ! But certainly not for free ! Same for China with their Industrial pollution ! They will Shortly in 1-3 years surpass the USA, despite they still have only less than a third or so of the USA GDP !
Yesssssss...we will even provide you with loans, so that you can build more refineries, smelters, steel mills and whatever is polluting the most...so that we can re-import the materials and goods...and leaving ALL the pollutions....IN YOUR COUNTRIES !
After all this is what Globalization is ! You want more ? You will get more. You want less....just raise your hand.
Soooooo simple !

OBAMA - A HISTORIC TIME FOR HOPE FROM AMERICA FOR THE WORLD (by Augustus) written by Augustus,
January 20, 2009
This is a recently posted mini-essay from my blog:
On the Eve of History, I pay tribute to the next President of the United States of America: Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II, whose election to the highest office of the land appears to have opened new doors for the countless disenfranchised masses of the World, while making new connections through innate perceptions…
In addition to his assertive, self-controlled nature, inherent inclination to Reason & Compassion along with well stimulating ideals, President Obama also appears to possess a certain ethereal quality which automatically mollifies some American enemies and opponents of the America (after a fashion, and perhaps for a limited period of time)...
Indeed, by electing Mr. Obama these United States have undergone significant transformation, it has acquired a brand new “face” while reviving an old source of “inspiration & ideals", rendering the Land of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and J. F. Kennedy once again worthy of global respect & admiration!
The ideal approach for the inhabitants of our small blue planet at this rather significant point in World History, would be the collective adoption of minor steps towards “hope”… If only mankind could take advantage of the potential for monumental changes, which suddenly appeared lying ahead of us, ever since the astounding results of the 2008 American Presidential election were announced, humanity might surprise itself as well as the rest of the Universe...
Provided Mr. Obama "does the walk" as magnificently well as he articulated so many noble ideals, provided all Americans made a collective effort, and truly endeavor to contribute, by joining this ethereal wave of Hope hovering upon a blue horizon, Martin Luther King’s and John Lennon’s dreams might even materialize…
If all of us could only give Mr. Obama the benefit of a doubt, for a sustained period of time, mankind might miraculously move another small step forward and planet Earth could even become a slightly better place...

Hello I felt compelled to say something to my fellow brothers and sisters of Brazil. I have often wondered about the race problem in Brazil there are so many that dont want to embrace their African Heritage. Slavery brought us to the West and we have suffered but endured. being an African American I am so very proud! I never thought I would see this in my life time! How wrong I was ! My wish is that President Obama inspires my African Brothers and Sisters Central stand up just a little straighter be proud because this man is a gift to the world and we can all share
I also hope that this will inspire a country with a 60 percent African population (that includes so called mixed too) to elect its first Brazilian leader of African decent maybe this will be the kick in the butt that's needed African Americans make up less that 15 percent of the population in America and in Brazil its 60 percent I don't know what the delay is I get tired of seeing people of African decent shaking their butts and playing soccer that's not to say these things don't have a place but there is so much more to us I know the same stereotype is used with African Americans here it keeps some people comfortable but now the game has changed so please be inspired If we can do it in the United Sates I know Brazil can YES YOU CAN
