So what do you get when you hold a month-long bar food festival in a city where people's primary form of entertainment is already bar-hopping? Extra tables jammed into crowded spaces, even more tables spilling off sidewalks onto the streets, tables everywhere, and still, everyone waiting for tables.

Nossa, péssimo este texto. O Rio é muito mais do que praia, o Rio é a capital cultural do país e a cidade do carnaval e do samba. Rio is the cultural capital of Brazil.

Even though Rio has plenty of culture, it is far from the cultural capital of Brazil. Recife in my opinion is the cultural capital of Brazil, followed by Salvador and Sao Paulo. Not to mention smaller towns all throughout the country, but specially in the Northeast... they all probably have more culture than Rio.

why cant we like rio salvador and recife ? written by asp,

i think those cities are some of the major centers of brazilian culture
sao paulo has lots of culture and artists passing though and great musicians , but , the soul of the cultures in brazil and evolutions of those cultures is greater in those other three cities. each one has characteristics unique to their region
not to mention there are huge cultural roots in belem de para and sao luis de maranhao , as well as other places with unique contributions
i wouldnt want to have to choose between the frevo , maracatu, coco, carvalho marinho ,forro etc of recife and the axe, bloco afro , samba da roda , candomble, trio electrico of salvador and the sambao , bossa nova , samba jazz, jongo , chorinho, partido alto of rio....
the power of the rio sambao with bateria and passistas is pretty hard to beat , though....and some very distinctive world recognised and respected movements of samba have come out of rio like chorinho and bossa nova
