Brazilian Government Pays to Bring Pluto Back to the Cool Planets Table PDF Print E-mail
2006 - August 2006
Written by Carlos Chagas
Tuesday, 29 August 2006 17:08

Pluto, expelled from the planet's clubIt has just been created, in Brasília, a new NGO, called Friends of Pluto Association (SAP, Sociedade Amigos de Plutão), whose main goal it to protest the decision of the International Astronomical Union that downgraded the solar system's ninth planet to the condition of dwarf planet. All because, last week, gathered in Prague, 2.500 astronomers took this decision. Now, there are only eight planets left: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Brazilian NGOs
written by ch.c., August 31, 2006
I just remind you that not so long ago The Governor of Rio distributed hundreds of millions to NGOs.
Some of those millions were paid back in support of his re-election campaign.

And by now, Lula is in his re-election campaign. Therefore........payments to friendly
NGOs have accelerated......by simple commmon sense.

Before investigating foreign NGOs you should better investigate the Brazilian NGOs.

Just open the Pandora Box. It is full of surprises.
What?
written by Gingo dingo, August 31, 2006
“Obviously, it's already decided that each one of the 800 directors of the new NGO will be able to withdraw 20,000 reais (US$ 9.400) a week and they will also get institutional credit cards in order to cover hotel and food expenses.”

He has to be taking the piss! 800 directors for ONE NGO? Come one! Maybe his sarcasm was lost in the translation; I´ve gone to the internet looking for anything on this and have found ziltch. Maybe someone else has a more rep**able link and can supply some factual evidence, instead of relying on Carlos’ vivid imagination.

And, oh by the way Chagas, there was a CPI on international NGOs in 2001. Outcome: nada. As per usual. So, you may wish to brush up on your current affairs before unleashing your idiocy.

HARD TO BELIEVE
written by Matheus Souza, September 08, 2006
Gee.. I just came back from America.. and all I can see is violence ( more than ever ), lots of banners, ads and TV commercials trying to convince you to vote in someone...
there's nobody really worried about life quality.. all those politicians want is to make more money and have a easy life, wasting the money we put for taxes...

and now a crazy group want to bring pluto to the solar system... Why don't they volunter for something else? like helping poor kids? helping schools... whatever...

Thereza said before that she wants to change her citizenship... I can't misunderstand her... But I still believe in miracles... and that our country get changed... that our guys see that things are wrong...
This is a joke, dear people!

Please, please, please! Chagas’ article is a joke on the fact that NGO are created in Brazil for every conceivable subject. No organization of this type – and with that structure! – exists in Brazil… but some, Brazilian and otherwise, are closely related. Please, use your sense of humor and read a very good satire on Brazilian “petista” politics today by one of our top journalists. And, you readers and commentators, don’t try to be so serious to “pagar o mico” and even think that such an NGO exists…
It was a big fat joke, but you all don´t seem to get it, do you?
written by Monica Santos, October 04, 2006
This NGO note is a joke, from head to toe! (well...I agree it could be taken for a true fact, as far as the present brazilian government is concearned...). All Chagas´ readers are used to his sense of humor, his metaphors, frequent irony and the like. Please, read Chagas´ text, released on Sept 30th,entiteled "RETRATAÇÃO" in the same Tribuna de Imprensa (THIS IS A CALL TO THE TRANSLATOR OF THE TEXT!!), where he is forced to "explain" that the SAP NGO is just fiction! He was merely joking and did not imagine that the text would take such proportions , plus a status of inquestionable truth. Just check the "data" - numbers and figures too high and absurd to be taken for real. No trace of a mention to names of directors or date of the Diario Oficial(the federal gasette) where the transfer of funds can be checked. And, of course, no mentioning of the whole case in ANY of the major newpapers/TV networks about it all! If all these things were real, don´t you all agree it would be a HUGE scandal?? C´mon! - and last, but not least - I am NOT a PT voter, please! It´s just that I am for the correct information, that´s all.
A Funny Joke

Follow me and I'll take you to a better place.
20 years later," Welcome to China!"
I'm sorry I sold Brazil down the river to China just to get the economy going. I didn't realize the long-term effects of China sucking our resources dry while paying very little and poluting our air and water.
I didn't realize China was just using Brazil to better themselves. But, hey, I'm retired living the good life. Screw you, I'm OK.
