Righto, this (and many) of the articles on this site ARE WRITTEN BY BRAZILIANS (and translated into English). No need to be so defensive. There are millions of articles, books and websites bashing the U.S., by the way. Did Lula not promised exactly the same thing at the start of his first mandate ?
If not what were then his promises ? Everyone could and should re-read what he said and promised during the 2002 campaign...and compare with his "new" promises......not so new....in my view !

Unlike Brazilians, Americans have little patience with elected officials that don't keep their word. The Republican defeat was caused by exactly that. In 1994 (Democrats) and again in 2006 (Republicans) got a thumpin' because they got too power hungry. If only the Brazilian electorate could learn that lesson.
