A Proposal to End Brazilian Poverty: Sterilizing Irresponsible Parents PDF Print E-mail
2009 - June 2009
Written by Joe Moreira da Silva

Kids from favela in Brazil Let me tell you a little story about a guy in São Paulo, Brazil, who lives in my neighborhood and is a true stud, at least if you are talking about the past, when men were used as reproducers. Today, he is an irresponsible procreator. Just imagine, he has 4 kids with one woman and 3 with another one, 3 with another one, and he just made another one pregnant and he doesn't support any of them.

He keeps going from woman to woman, and they keep getting pissed at him because he is not a good provider. But maybe now he'll go to jail for not paying alimony and palimony. At least, I convinced one of his ex-wives to report him to the authorities. Now he's pissed at me and her and keeps threatening us.

I did it because she happens to be my niece. I told her the guy was good-for-nothing before she had 4 children by him, but she didn't listen to me, now her whole family, meaning myself and other members of her extended family, helps her support her children.

It's really funny that you need a license to drive a car and to do a lot of other stuff, but any stupid person is allowed to reproduce. I believe anybody should be allowed to have the first two children, but after that, they should prove they have the means not only to support them, but also to give them a good life.

Supporting doesn't mean just giving them food to survive, just like you do with any animal.  In Portuguese, there is a stupid saying, "Onde come um, comem dois, comem três" (Ongdi kongmi oong, kongmi do-iz, kOngmi trays - Where one eat, two and three also eat.). A lot of the poverty in Brazil is caused by irresponsible reproduction.

And I believe the way to control it would be by having those irresponsible men and women sterilized. Those irresponsible begetters are a burden to society as a whole.

People complain about China's abuse of human rights, but as regards reproduction, I don't think they are wrong. I live in a country where irresponsible reproduction abounds. People say society should never try to control that because it would be against the most basic human rights.

Well, I agree to a certain extent, in my opinion, two children would be the limit just to appease those advocates of the right to free reproduction, but if it were up to me, I wouldn't allow many people to reproduce because they make children that become a problem for society since they give them no education, not enough food, and as we live in a capitalistic society, the class differences are huge and so those kids will resort to crime due to envy.

Capitalism encourages envy because it makes the world move forward.  The neighbor's wife is always hotter and if he has a car, you should have one as well. Those children in Brazil who are the product of irresponsible reproduction have the odds against them to begin with so chances are they will become criminals since according to statistics most criminals are the product of a single mother and an absent father.  I'm not just in favor of family planning; I'm all for punishing irresponsible reproduction by neutering irresponsible people.

And the Catholic Church doesn't help at all, quite the opposite. They know the best way to get converts is by brainwashing children. Children are easy to manipulate, so they convince the stupid to procreate like hell, the physical conditions of the children the stupid poor produce doesn't matter, what matters is their souls.

If children suffer a lot, they have their place guaranteed in heaven. That's the problem with overemphasizing spirituality; sometimes the result is ignoring the flesh. At least, that's what History shows us.

I went to a mass with my mother, the priest was Father Marcelo Rossi, a singing priest, the answer of the Catholic Church to the evangelical movement.

Well, he was praising women who had more than six children, calling them "heroines." Cows, that's what they are, ignorant cows. I'm not blaming them for being ignorant cows, that's just what they are due to life's circumstances, but I blame whoever promotes this way of thinking.

Well, enough of my rant, long live family planning!

A Proposal to End Brazilian Poverty: Sterilizing Irresponsible Parents

Joe, how many times have I told you to be more diplomatic while expressing your views? da Silva family has a lot to learn yet. smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/grin.gif smilies/angry.gif

May be "A Brasilian" would agree with what you say. smilies/wink.gif smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/grin.gif

BTW, it is a good article and kudos for expressing some bold points which are bound to receive plenty of criticisms.
Get ready...
written by Marco Vieira da Costa, June 09, 2009
... for the avalanche of criticisms of the type "God created man and woman to multiply". I personally agree with your opinion, especially the part that hints at a "license" to have kids. Unfortunately, the problem is not in Brazil only. I live in the heartland of the USA (Missouri) and here the problem seems to be bigger than what it was in my home state--Santa Catarina. Too many women around this area have kids with different fathers, and many of these fathers apparently prefer to go to jail than pay alimony and support. They too are "studs" who reproduce non-stop. Whites, blacks, latinos... they all have a share in this. Why do these women continue to date bums is beyond me.

I am with you on this , the people say god put us here to multiply and all the good church goers will tell you that .
BUT it is also written only with your mate and never before marrige
so back to to rongs make a kid .

unlike brasil the US has laws but if the man does not work and most lossers dont the workers have to pay taxes to pay for food , housing ,medical, school ,and even a pale grant for college .
right know in the US the latino race is growing faster than all other races combined , and sucking the taxes out as the government will not implement any laws to stop stupid people from breading .
the world will be an idiocracy in the next 200 years if it take that long .

several years ago in porto rico father of the year was a cop with 24 kids by 7 different women , and the US tax payers paid the bills

your right JOAO stop the spread of macho man sause , or breed smater women

hope your family member take your lead and does not runin her life by breading with a low life

best of luck

Hey Forrest, thanks. BUT...BUT.., though I would love to claim that I wrote the article, it wasn't me! It was written by Joe da Silva and I am glad that you found it a good one like I did.Your comments as well as that of Marco da Costa reflect my line of thoughts over this issue. I am glad you took the trouble of reading the article and commenting. It is indeed a refreshing one to read.
Yes, but...

I agree that irresponsible pregnancies should be prevented in any way possible, in Brazil or otherwise.

I do not agree with "sterilizing" anyone, however, because it has very strong racist and dictatorial undertones. Should a strong state a la Third Reich sterilize all the untouchables? And what if these people disagree with this?

Before long, you would have a revolution and civil war on your backs, considering that in Brazil "untouchables" represent a majority of population now.

Anyway, there is one way to lower pregnancy rates - invest in education! A tried and proven method. Once this guy starts thinking about integrals, derivations, chemical reactions, economy and foreign languages, he will automatically stop thinking about chasing skirts.
Oh and yes...
written by Jakob, June 10, 2009
The author of the article, Joe Moreira da Silva, gave a stereotypical, boxed opiniong of Brazilian middle and higher classes about what should be done with favelados and other poor people - they should be sterilized, surpressed, and I am sorry to make such a strong statement - to make them dissapear. So that the entire Brazil is nice, shiny and beautiful, so para ingles ver.

And from here, from this kind of thinking, these is only one small step to death squadrons, eliminating poor children sleeping on the squalid passages of now innumerous favelas.

This brings us back to the question of education - why is there no money in Brazil for education? The answer is simple: because of corruption. Corruption is the TRUE cancer of the Brazilian society - not favelas!

Would Brazil introduce a death penalty for corruption, like Chinese did, I am sure Brazil would leap forward in giant steps.

However even the justice in Brazil is corrupt, so I am afraid Brazil will stay as it is, and even get worse. And that's why I left Brazil - this ever-present feeling of a long, excruciatingly slow, but inexorable slide to hell.

Typical leftist rant
written by A Brazilian, June 12, 2009
They are the byproducts of the society they live in. I am not saying that American or European societies are any less promiscuous (just check their TV shows and movies, they promote irresponsible sex and immoral behavior as much as the next guy), but in Brazil there's a consistent promotion of promiscuity and behavior that leads to unwanted pregnancies and STDs.

How do we know this is a leftist rant? Because leftists are the first to engage in such activities, but the first to try to push the blame to others. What does religion have anything to do with it?

As a matter of fact, if people indeed followed the church's dogma on how they should live all of this could be avoided! How in the hell can anyone accuse the church of anything?

So, you are only an hypocrite, because you defend the very culture that generates such problems, but also dumb. Instead of the taking the most logical action, which is to solve the problem at its roots, i.e., actually promoting a healthier culture, you propose medical procedures.

WTF! It would be far cheaper and much easier if people could actually live like true Christians! Besides any form of such control is yet another layer of bureaucracy and corruption to an already bloated and corrupt system.
Illogical
written by noname, June 14, 2009
Where to begin, like trying to pick out a gain of sand on the beach. The above poster already touched on the church issue. I´ll hit the crime one. The author just makes up facts to suit his rant. He cites no supporting research to justify his claim about being poor leading to a life of crime. Just the opposite seems to be true. There are more poor in Brazil that do not turn to crime; and percentage wise, give the cooments of most here, it is those of good condition that do - government corruption is a crime of the well off not the poor.
Calling women that have more than six children cows is just offensive and pointless. Horrible article. Not thought out. Leaves more questions than answers and shows a lack of critical thinking ability.

This is NOT just a Brazilian problem. I am an American living in Northern California and you have the SAME thing happening even in the most affluent homes. We have 12-year-old girls having babies living in suburbia. Oftentimes the lower-class and/or nonwhites are seen as the culprits but I see it at all levels of society. At least in Brazil birth control and abortion is not available - at least to the poor. In the US women are w/o excuse. You may sleep with a worthless man but you do NOT have to have a baby by him.

Brazil is way ahead of America in terms of morals. American females have access to all types of birth control and abortion. Being educated doesn't seem to make a difference here as wealthy college girls have out of wedlock babies and flush them down the toilets as fast or faster than the poor.

Right on! I would rather be poor than corrupt. The politicians in Brazil, ALL OF THEM, destroy the nation by suppressing education rights. Why? It is easier to control a mind, when people have to work 3/4 jobs or do not have one for that matter, they can't worry about the economy or demand these idiots to do the right thing.

Brazil will never achieve its potential because of lack of education alone won't solve the problem.

ETHICS is the main issue at hand.

Unplanned pregnancy is a big problem in the U.S. too. It even happened to Sarah Palin's family when her 17-year-old daughter become pregnant while still in high school. Among lower class Hispanics and Blacks, it's been going on for generations. There are grandmothers in the ghetto as young as 30 or 32 years old. That's right - do the math. These girls end up on public assistance and their kids grow up to be teenage parents themselves. Sad.
American Politicians Put the "C" in Corruption
written by Sparkle, June 19, 2009
Brazilian politicians have nothing on the American variety. It is better to have no education than miseducation which is what most people get in the US. A good number of Americans are barely functioning illiterates and dummies. I have seen more intelligent Brazilians, even those with a 2nd grade education. Affluent Americans are barely smarter than those in the ghetto. American kids are wild, crazy and undisciplined and so are the adults. Outside of reading and math there isn't too much else to learn. Brazil please do not look to America for positive examples.

True but then why so many pastors have sex with young children, mostly
boys ??????
Because God told them this is how to multiply ?

And when they go with minor girls, did God said the babies will come on earth only when these children will become adult ?
