It's taken far too long for musicians - and through them, the world's audiences - to recognize the substantial creative credentials of the late Brazilian composer Moacir Santos. Despite valiant efforts by Mario Adnet and Zé Nogueira, pioneers in rescuing Santos's music from obscurity, all his music is underrepresented in current recording catalogs.

great to have an article about moacir santos written by asp,

glad these musicians are keeping the music alive
yeah the bay area too often mixes clave with the brazilian thing
stew is ok and can have great results but the pure grooves in themselves are incredible vehicles to play over
they need to really get into the depths of the brazilian grooves to express them to the fullest effect
but its great they are pushing moacirs music out there

You are quite "eclectico", ASP. Knows about Geo Politics, Economy, Brasilian music (even heard of Moacir, Sidnei, etc;!!). I am impressed.

since you seem to know even more than i do about geo politics and economy as well as you are aware of moacir and love sidnei...i take my hat off to you with even more impressed awe....especialy since you like one of my favorite groups where we live...now that is the height of good taste in someone if you ask me.....
by the way, i want to mention the late borrosinho, a marvelous trumpeter from rio de janeiro who was one of the founders of the legendary banda black rio, also played for moacir santos...barrosinho was a special guy

Ok, Ok, I will vote for your favorite candidate Gen.Lessa, if he chooses to stand for the job of CEO next year.But...But..., he has to sign an agreement to invite me and my favorite band for his inaugural ceremony.

Great article and brings back memories of stumbling across Moacir's blue note albums in London many years ago.Brazil is truly blessed with so many talented instrumentalists. People talk about Toots Thielmans for example, but Mauricio Einhorn is a monster, and so is Gabriel Grossi!
