Brazil, Shut Up Already! Who Needs Advice of a Land Filled with Crime, Illiteracy and Corruption? PDF Print E-mail
2011 - October 2011
Written by J. R. Guzzo

Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff These days, it has become a habit of the Brazilian government and those in the neighborhood to tell the developed countries what they should do to improve their lives and get out of the sad situation in which they find themselves.

In contrast, of course, with Brazil, where everything is better these days, from the economic policy to the french fries and where management of public administration practically has no rivals anywhere else in the world in terms of wisdom, quality of decisions taken and number of problems solved.

An attentive person doesn't need more than half an hour in some rich country to see that everything is finished there, as we are told by key figures in the current administration and, mainly, its predecessor. It's not exactly what millions of Brazilians traveling abroad see with their own eyes, but who cares about their opinion?

In Brazil, meanwhile, anyone can see how, finally, problems that have been a headache for mankind for the past 10,000 years were solved with perfection.

Just last week in Brussels, the capital of the European community, president Dilma Rousseff offered a new package of advice to the developed nations. Look at the beauty that is Brazil, the president said. Why can't you do like we do?

Dilma believes Europe, the United States, Japan and other countries currently in ruins should learn from Brazil that the financial system needs to be tightly controlled throughout the world.

It would be nice, too, if they were able to see how the Brazilian government, with its superior understanding of things, managed to provide the country economic growth, rising income, more jobs, improved productivity and a balanced public account.

Governments should have a "policy coordination" among themselves to handle the "crisis" and possibly rule the world the way it really should be ruled, and in case of any doubt, Brazil is right here ready to teach them whatever they need.

The president is far from being the only one to teach "good governance", as they say today, to rich countries - and only to them, of course, because where is the fun in giving advice to a poor country.

Her predecessor in office has been doing this for a long time. One of his favorite lessons it to teach the United States (or, as they say, "Obama") that the country's problem is not having ("as I had in Brazil") a Central Bank, a Bank of Brazil, a Federal Savings Bank, a Bank of Economic and Social Development and other wonders funded by the state. Had they something similar, the international crisis would have been solved long ago.

Even the Finance minister, Guido Mantega, who in Brazil usually prefers to stay seated during class instead of going to the blackboard, gets that urge to teach lessons when the audience is from the First World. He suggested, for example, that the BRICs should provide help to the euro area to solve the current problems of the European currency.

It is true that he didn't explain how such a thing could be done in practice, nor what other BRICs would think of his idea, anyway this is just another contribution to the betterment of the world.

Likewise, political analysts, economic science brains and even national entrepreneurs cited in the international lists of billionaires have also decided to provide lessons of wisdom. What they have in common is that very little or nothing results from all their chatter around the world.

Brazil spent the last 100 years listening from the First World, through their most respected heads, all possible types of advice.

Leaders of governments and world organizations, captains of big industry and big finance, economists who have made history, Nobel laureates - all at one time or another, have told Brazil how the country was wrong, and how it should behave in order to have any hope of salvation.

It is well known and confirmed today that much of the advice they gave is among the most stupid ever recorded by human history. It would be prudent, faced with this experience, that authorities eager to advise others would think a little more before speaking, in order not to end up making the same mistake.

Most of all, in fact, rulers of a country that has the rates of crime, illiteracy and corruption as Brazil does, to name just a small portion of the permanent national disaster, should keep their mouths shut at all times and work to solve our miseries, instead of meddling into other peoples problems. But that would be too much to expect.

This article appeared originally in Portuguese, in Veja magazine, where J.R. Guzzo is a columnist.

Granted I'm not a political analyst, an economic science brain, a national entrepreneur, cited in the international lists of billionaires, a most respected head, leader of governments and world organizations, captain of big industry and big finance, an economist who has made history, a Nobel laureate and so on. I'm just a lowly peasant that is going to have to go back and look real real hard to see if the above has even the least bit of validity. Maybe I've been a bit too myopic in the past to be just an "anyone" and able to see this.

A great comment, though it is from a lowly peasant. It proves my point: A lowly Brasilian peasant can also be intelligent and articulate, even though he doesn't have a degree from Sorbonne, Yale, Harvard, MIT,USP, UNICAMP or other equally reputable and renowned learning institutions.smilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gif

Ricardo: This writer has one track mind, and he is able to see only what he perceives to be the bad side of things regarding Brazil.

Quoting from his article: “"A política externa brasileira pode ser um primor de independência, mas seu resultado prático mais visível foi tornar o Brasil, ao longo do governo Lula, o grande amigo do que existe de pior no mundo"

I guess this writer believes that the relationship that has been developed between “Brazil and China” in the last 8 years under the Lula administration is among what he characterize as “Lula, o grande amigo do que existe de pior no mundo."

Thanks to this economic relationship with China the Brazilian economy has been doing so well in the last 7 years.

Brazil has been able to improve and lift the boats of more than 30 million people in the last 8 years, and the Brazilian government is in terrific shape financially when compared with what has been going on in other parts of the world such as in the United States, in Japan, and in Europe.

I am aware that Brazil has been doing a lot of things right, and slowly Brazil is improving economically, and financially.

Brazil is an emerging country with a great prospects for the future that lies just ahead.

I would take Mr. J.R. Guzzo opinion with a grain of salt, because he is blind and can't see all the good things that are happening in Brazil – as we can in both his articles on Veja magazine he is just another Brazil basher.

And how about this?
Beijing (AsiaNews) – China’s economy could collapse within two years because of potentially destabilising contradiction between its short- and medium-term performances. An overheated real estate market, high inflation and a frozen yuan could in fact pull the rug from under the Asian giant by 2013, this according to Nouriel Roubini, professor of economics at New York University's Stern School of Business.

The good news is: there are 2 countries among the G-20 major economies that will not collapse as much as everybody else - and Brazil is one of the 2 countries.

Mr Jr. Guzzo is one of the those old critics who still have fresh memory of how terrible was from the 70's to 80's (the 90's was the begin of rebuilding of where brazil is today and heading..the right way). Those critics are good to keep the young awake, but unfortunately only sees the bad (negative, as mr ricardo explained) and is one of those Brazilians with a low self esteem.

Oh, I also bet that even China (Next to Brazil and India) will make it and that they will go to a yuan back by gold in the next 10 years.

The only thing that I got out of this article is that the author wants Brasil to shut up and get perfect before opening its mouth again. Brazil is trying out its new found global importance with some rhetoric that could probably use some tuning, that's fair enough. Is Brasil perfect? No. Is Europe perfect? No. Maybe the only perfect entity is the author? No. Where I come from we call this "Piss and Moaning", that is expounding on what everybody else is doing wrong. I was born in Brazil, but I am a naturalized American citizen. I tend to agree with Mr. Guzzo. For a very long time Brazilians suffered from a deflated ego and very low self-esteem due to high inflation, military dictatorship, and widespread corruption. Now that the Brazilian economy is doing better, the powers that be are basking in the new found attention of the always volatile world media. One thing is for sure, Brazil is richer today, but endemic problems such as political corruption, absurd taxes, high interest rates, abysmal health care, inexistent public safety should preclude any attempt to hint that we have the solutions. We don't. Brazil is still a country viciously controlled by a very few individuals without soul and heart.

Yes, it is Farrakhan.I once in a while read on-line newspapers from the U.S., ASP, especially to the comments of ex-ordinary Americans (like your good self and Simpleton)after some big events occur. One of the bloggers provided a link to the Chicago Tribune where Farrakhan´s speech appears in a video, after the death of Moammar Gaddafi. I just posted the picture of the gentleman without making any comments of my own lest they be intercepted and misinterpreted by French Sureté or M.I.6 or Italian Carabinieris. Farrakhan did speak some truth, but....but....but...if the fellas from ABIN get too curious about my comments, I could always claim "Não fui eu".smilies/wink.gif

Excellent comment, ASP. It proves that it is some small newspapers that question the deeds and the misdeeds of the politicians and the big ones claim the credit. No wonder all the newspapers with "large circulation" is going kaput all over the world, due to the Internet newspapers. When they hunt down the clandestine "free" media broadcast stations as diligently and viciously as has been done, how can one expect anything other than "barons" and "hired journalists" to have sway? ANAC had some degree of rationale originally, the "rouge" broadcasters were (to a very very small extent) interfering with aviation navigation and control systems. Now what's left of the "illegal" transmiters are targeted as being tied to drug traffic and end up effectively bombed out of existance. Clearly a rouse I say, but there go the sheep believing progress has been made.

China it will look very foolish if they lend even a dime to help rescue Nicolas Sarkozy's....
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, October 28, 2011

Ricardo: Regarding China and Nicolas Sarkozy and the current banking crisis in France.

I just posted the following on the Elite Trader Economics forum:

October 28, 2011

SouthAmerica:
China it will look silly if they lend even a dime to help rescue Nicolas Sarkozy's from his current banking crisis regarding the French banking system.

First, the Chinese would be foolish to trust a person with a character of someone such as Nicolas Sarkozy, just look what he did to Muammar Gaddafi the Libyan leader – in a short period of time Sarkozy went from kissing the ass of Muammar Gaddafi to knifing him on his back and destroying the entire infrastructure of his country.

Second, France under Nicolas Sarkozy played a major role as a ally of the United States on their effort of regime change in Libya.

The US has waged the Western coalition's war on Libya in an attempt to evict China from the oil-rich areas of the North African country, a former US Treasury official says.

The crisis in Libya is mostly a "CIA operation and the US government is trying to get China out of Libya because China has extensive energy investments in Libya," former Assistant Secretary to US Treasury Dr. Paul Craig Roberts told Press TV.

"The US is very disturbed by the recent reports from the International Monetary Fund that China will surpass the US as the number one economic power within 5 years," Roberts added.

In conclusion, China it will look very foolish to the rest of the world if China participates in any efforts to help rescue Nicolas Sarkozy and his major French banking crisis.

China has better things to do with its money than to help a scoundrel such as Nicolas Sarkozy. I find amazing that Nicolas Sarkozy after all he has done he still has the balls to go and beg the Chinese for a banking rescue.

Leaders of the Chinese government should watch these videos, and they would grasp what I am saying here as follows:

Ricardo, I did watch the videos you posted and helped to reinforce my view that in the U.S., there is still independent press that is bold to speak out. The press has to inform and educate the people and let them form their proper opinion. Unfortunately, MSM in both our countries try to manipulate the mass. However, in our country, the broadband connections are growing in our country and even the ordinary João Ninguém is able to access the "independent press". I am not sure if you are aware that our "elected" officials go on line to answer the questions or ask for suggestions from their constituents. So who knows, in a few years time we may have as much freedom of speech as the Americans without bright journalists being censored or threatened to be fired by the press barons and their "invisible" patrons.

Are they competitive price-wise?
Depends
written by Simpleton, October 28, 2011
To answer your question directly Joao, I'll just say I don't know and have not recently shopped around to get to that answer and, the locale may have a significant impact.

Back in the early eighties I can say yes, for sure they were price competitive down around Forrest's old neck of the woods. Actually they were less than dirt cheap, they paid their own way, bought their own uniforms and separate quarters were not necessarily required (although one might have had to whistle into the cathedral from time to time to maintain the price benefit ratio / not have to shell out any cash for the services renderedsmilies/grin.gif.) Given the costs of refurbishing a quarto de empregada, re-doing the doors and locks on the private / social kitchen entrances, calculating out the per square meter impacts of the ITPU and condominium fees for either the quarto de empregada (or a spare suite fully furnished as I prefer), things get a bit pricey there in Brasil.

What did it cost DSK in reality? Even though they weren't both French I guess you have to ask who ultimately paid the lawyer fees (and bribes???) and how much it was to get him off scott-free without paying the bills that were due.

A direct answer and I do appreciate it. The second paragraph of your post shows that you have vast theoretical knowledge and practical experience in cost/benefit analysis. Perhaps went to Wharton?

Now, now, you are trying to meddle with the "hornet´s nest". But...but...but..a brilliant question. DSK´s third or fourth wife is an American born TV journalist and both of them are rich. If I recall correctly, DSK was born in Algeria (or was he not?). He is supposed to be a "socialist" (my ass). He was about to run for the President´s office, challenging the incumbent who is a first generation French (like our respective Presidents smilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gifsmilies/grin.gif.). He gets arrested in NYC and after months of "ordeal", he is not found guilty and let go. In he meantime, the one in power (who is another tarado) makes a "bold" move by going after the "bad guy" in the African Desert and ultimately "terminates" him with "extreme prejudice". This of course wins the "hearts and minds" of his people who elected and are going to reelect him again next year.

I am not as good as Eddie or Rickey in geopolitics, but your question did give food for my thoughts. Needless to say it is just my opinion.smilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gifsmilies/grin.gif

Ricardo: Joao, if you noticed most of the videos were information, news and analysis provided by the foreign mainstream media of other countries other than the United States.

Joao, today when I think about the US mainstream media the best description that comes to mind is: the US mainstream media represent mediocrity, inferior, insignificant, irrelevant, immaterial, unimportant, inconsequential, with no substance, and a colossal failure in every way.

The US mainstream media is basically worthless and irrelevant today, and usually they just spin things regarding the many conflicts the US is involved around the world with materials provided by the Pentagon to be used as news – in the past this sort of behavior used to be called government propaganda.

The US mainstream media is controlled by big business, and it's used just as a tool to spin information that help the agendas of their masters.

You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. I would suggest you just forget the article title - rather inflamatory, almost derogatory. Reading a bit deeper into Guzzo's rant, and ignoring some "spin" driven drivel and the last paragraph of out-right woe be to the honk my own horn types (quite common with brazos), he actually didn't do such a bad job of being "upbeat" about the PBs.

Since you open your mouth only to make brief,but....but... but....important statements, I decided to research further and I think the correct link is (Just double click on it):

http://english.alarabiya.net/a...74515.html

The link says the Chinese President Herr.Hugh Jintão is not going to save the Europeans´s arses (probably included the French also, but didn't say so explicitly). Even ill informed peasants like me know that the Germans (along with Scandinavians and other "Nordic" countries)and have upper hand at this moment over rest of their "downfallen" European brethren. Of course, the Swiss (like our vanished late.ch.c-May his soul R.I.P) remaining on top of the wall.smilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gif.

Merkel will tell you anything you want to hear

Sure, the other day she threatened to dump the Euro and go back to her beloved DMs. I think it was a typical political "feeler" to get the reaction of he fellow European "leaders". The most ferocious "leader" comes out with a comment "It was a mistake to admit Greece into the Euro Zone)", though he did threaten to go back to his French Franc.smilies/smiley.gifsmilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gif. Does Berlusconi want to break away from the Euro and take Italy to "Liras"? Probably he is too busy with his own "personal" problems or doesn't want to pick up a quarrel with Merckel.

My predictions for the next few years, Herr.Dott.

1) Euro-zone is going to disintegrate, every country going back to their original currencies. 2) The mighty U.S. dollar will remain as a major trading currency along with DM, Kroners, Swiss Franc. Dunno about the English Pounds (Probably their cousins across the "pond" will rescue them) 3) The U.N. is certainly going to become a non entity.smilies/sad.gif 4) The Chinese currency also will become a major trading currency tied with US$ and DM.

Of course these are just my opinion and not meant to offend any particular country, currency or "Chief of Nation" (nor to challenge your words of wisdom, Herr.Dott)smilies/smiley.gifsmilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gif

Sneak Preview: G20 Summit on November 3–4, 2011 in Cannes, France
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 02, 2011

Ricardo: Here is what I wrote today about what the "G20" expect to accomplish on this G20 Summit in Cannes, France.

Sneak Preview: G20 Summit on November 3–4, 2011 in Cannes, France

The Group of Twenty (G-20) of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors at least they made one correct decision regarding the location of this G20 Summit on November 3–4, 2011 in Cannes, France.

The location of the meeting has a special meaning, and convey a subliminal message to the rest of the world about what is expected of being accomplished on this meeting in Cannes, France.

Cannes, is best known for its annual film festival – movies, the world of make believe, the world of illusions. The perfect place for the G20 to stage their latest drama – A Greek tragedy.

This Greek drama has already various sequels on the pipeline which will reach its climax with an international monetary system meltdown.

One of the main attractions of this G20 Summit it will involve China and the US$ 150 billion dollars that Nicolas Sarkozy hopes China will supply to entertain the audience.

China will participate in a simple act a magic trick – Nicolas Sarkozy will show to China how they can make the US$ 150 billion US dollars disappear forever just like that – 1, 2, 3 gone.....

Alot of ping-pong being played here, USA v China, Brazil v USA, China/Brazil team v USA etc. smilies/cheesy.gif

Brazil's authoritarian elite is scared, scared of continuing Eurozone instability, scared that a Euro collapse will bring on Brazilian economic disaster. I note that some believe that Brazil and China will be the only two kids left standing if things get 'really bad'. Unfortunately, that's not the case. China has one financial model: produce cheaply for export. The largest single market in the world continues to be the USA. A marked collapse in US and European markets will have a direct knock-on effect in China, with Brazil following close behind. Why? Brazil's main market is China, China's main markets are the USA and Europe. China has been propping up the 'globalist edifice' since 2008, buying US Treasury debt, buying segments of European debt. But China has considerable structural problems itself and will not be able to play for an indefinite period. China's internal market is not as yet sufficiently developed; China must export.

Ricardo: Hugo, you missed the point from the above postings. I wrote the following:

We are already in the first leg of another Great Depression - the world economy is going to hell in a handbasket at the speed of light.

The good news is: there are 2 countries among the G-20 major economies that will not collapse as much as everybody else - and Brazil is one of the 2 countries.

No - I am not kidding.

Anyway, the other country is: India.

By the way, this new "Great Depression" it will be a lot worse than the one they had in the 1930's.

*****

As the global economy and financial system goes into a meltdown mode - "A New Great Depression" - which is going to hurt very badly most of the G20 country economies including China, the USA, and Germany - there are 2 countries that will be able to survive a little better than the other ones - Brazil and India.

The economies of China and Germany will be affected and have a major negative impact because over 30 percent of their economies depend on the export market. The USA economy and financial system will meltdown because the US dollar it will be repudiated as the main foreign reserve currency as the US economy and financial system meltdown.

No more free lunch from the world to Americans and their bankrupt and collapsing financial and economic system.

It will be an economic nightmare for all the G20 countries (one of the G20 countries is represented by the ECB) including in Brazil and India.

But at the end of the day, after the dust settles of this massive economic and financial meltdown and collapse that is underway, the 2 countries that will survive the best of the G20: it will be Brazil and India.

Ricardo: The economy and financial system of Europe is imploding. The economic and financial system of the United States it has been in a coma and is surviving based on artificial means, massive US government intervention, and money borrowed from foreign countries including China.

If the US dollar were not the main foreign reserve currency, then the US economy and financial system would have had a meltdown and collapsed just like the Soviet Union did years ago.

The European financial and economic meltdown might be the final trigger that will set off a massive meltdown of the US economic and financial system - and the end of an era, and a major chapter of world history.

I don't think so, Ricardo. The Euro Zone may disintegrate, because it was a dubious concept right from its inception. All the weak currencies of the "non-industrialized" countries were converted into Euro at an inflated exchange rate. Remember the Portuguese Escudos, Italian Liras, Spanish Pesos, etc; Everybody was happy to trade in Euros and to the great "Euro Zone". Now all the citizens of PIGS are paying the price for their leaders' follies. When I hear Sarkozy talking like the savior of the European "Union", I get a big kick. It is funny , Merckel doesn't sound as arrogant as he does.smilies/shocked.gif

You may be right about Brasil and India, but for different reasons. The Indians are stoical by nature and frugal in their spending and know how to tighten their belts when necessary. Besides they are the latest "allies" of the Yanks who need them to contain the growing "Islamo-Fascism" and the "Yellow Peril".

As for us, we are accustomed to being kicked on our butts and to bear the pain with grin. Remember "Plano Collor" & "Privatizações" of FHC? smilies/angry.gif

Your initial comments under the title "Ping-Pong" were highly thought provoking, especially the following statement you made:

Brazil's authoritarian elite is scared, scared of continuing Eurozone instability, scared that a Euro collapse will bring on Brazilian economic disaster.

Since then I have been paying close attention to what you say.smilies/smiley.gif

Thanks for the YouTube link you posted. Generally I do not go through a YouTube fully, because sometimes they can be repetitive and at times boring. Your recommendation as well as the title "Ten reasons why India will not and must not become a superpower" made me watch it fully! Other factors include a)Brasil and India are members of "BRIC" bloc of countries (Though the term was coined by the folks at Goldman & Sachs, as PIIGS !) b) Brasil enjoys a trade surplus with India c) Brasil & India had opposing views on "agriculture subsidies" during the last "Doha Rounds" of trade "Talks"

The presentation of Ramachandra Guha was fascinating indeed. Many problems they have are very similar to ours, especially when he talks about corruption, parties turning into "Family firms", exclusion of their "Tribals" from (the political scene) who are sitting on top of the mineral resources, etc; India has almost 7 times our population and their natural resources are nothing compared to ours.

So as a citizen and an educated Indian, he recommends that his country should not even aspire to be a global "Super Power". Believe it or not, an average educated and well informed Brasilian would recommend the same to his countrymen, though he may not say it in front of the authoritarian elite, lest he be branded as unpatriotic. smilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gifsmilies/grin.gif

Ricardo: The United States is becoming a 3rd world country very fast, but you would not know by watching the useless US mainstream media.

Everything is collapsing around us, but the US mainstream media is in denial, or they are not allowed to report the truth because that might speed up the implosion of the US economy even further.

A lot people that I know - some of them had excellent jobs in major banks - lost their jobs in the last 12 months.

The new generation they all have college degrees and part time jobs that don't earn enough money for them to be able to pay the bills.

It is getting to the point that I have to think who I know that still have a job.

And the friends who have small businesses are all hurting very badly, and they don't know for how long they will be able to stay in business.

American capitalism it shows the complete failure of the free market in every way possible.

Americans are always bashing other countries and their economic systems, but the United States don't have any excuses regarding its free market hard sell.

Today over 50 percent of unemployed has at least a college degree.

There's plenty of money in the side lines to be invested. What Americans don't have is creativity to create the innovation necessary to create the jobs of the new economy.

The best Americans can do today is to create a company such as Groupon, Linked In and other empty shells like that.

Today the smart human capital is leaving the United States to other countries where the future is being created.

Americans and the US economic and financial system still can come up with a few more financial scams to make a quick buck, but other than that the US economic and financial system is just milking wherever they can milk that still around.

Today I was watching on CNBC - Squawk Box with Joe Kernen, and Joe was crying like a baby about the power outage where he live in NJ. He has been without power for the last 5 days, and he also lost power for a few days about 6 weeks ago during and after hurricane Irene.

He should stop crying like a baby, and he should enjoy the fruits of his ideology and agenda – he is completely clueless about what deregulation has been doing to the electric power industry that provides the production and delivery of electric energy to our homes and businesses here in the United States.

In the last five years we had more power outage in our area than at any other time that I can remember, and Joe Kernen should enjoy the declining and collapsing infrastructure that we have in the US today – and the infrastructure of the United States is becoming very fast the infrastructure of a 3rd world country.

Joe Kernen should buy his generator and he should shut up, since the quality of life is going to decline year after year in the United States in the coming years, the best years of the US economy has been long gone, and he should get used to a constant declining standard of living in the old USA.

The United States infrastructure is a dinosaur, and is completely obsolete, and it's collapsing very fast.

For all practical purposes the US is a country of yesterday, and not of tomorrow.

*****

Today the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in October 2011 the US economy created only 80,000 jobs.

By the way, I know a woman who is working in 3 of these jobs – she has 3 separate part time jobs with no benefits, and she can barely pay her bills.

Many Americans are in denial, but the "Occupy Wall Street" movement is snowballing because most Americans are hurting and its standard of living is going down the toilet.

Regardin Embraer

Ricardo: I am not surprised by this article about Embraer that was published by the Financial Times today - The article said that Embraer is under investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for corruption.

I just wrote an article about Brazil to build a strong military and Embraer is part of that plan.

Today there are very few industries that the United States has a comparative advantage and the US defense industrial complex is one of the last areas that is keeping the US economy barely alive.

The US economy depends of the US defense industrial complex in creating wars around the world to keep the US economy from imploding into a black hole.

The US economy needs as many wars as the US government can manufacture around the world.

Embraer is new competition for the the US defense industrial complex and this lawsuit it is just part of the game the US government is playing to fight for the US market share of the killing and destruction industry.

“It's Imperative and a Matter of National Security For Brazil to Build a Strong Military ASAP”

...The Brazilian government has a great opportunity right now to build and fund its own defense and aerospace industry in Brazil, and leapfrog these industries into the future.

It's becoming obvious that Brazil should not buy any armament from foreigners; Brazil needs to build its own defense and aerospace industries, and today Brazil can accomplish that goal very easily.

The Brazilian government should award a major long-term multibillion dollar contract to Embraer's defense and aerospace subsidiary for them to develop and build a new line of fighter jets in Brazil, and drones for military use, as well as to catapult the Brazilian space program into the future.

“Embraer under investigation for corruption”
By Samantha Pearson and Joe Leahy in São Paulo
Financial Times (UK) – November 4, 2011

Embraer, the world’s third-largest commercial aircraft producer, said it is under investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for corruption, casting doubt over one of Brazil’s top companies.

The group, which has gained a reputation for transparency and high ethical standards, said it was conducting an internal investigation into transactions in three countries in response to the SEC allegations.

Embraer’s shares dropped nearly 5 per cent on Thursday, falling the most in six weeks, after the announcement, which was included in the group’s third-quarter results statement.

“In response to a subpoena issued in an investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission relating to possible violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the company retained outside counsel to conduct an internal investigation,” Embraer said in a filing late on Wednesday, a national holiday in Brazil.

In the statement on the investigation, which did not make headlines in markets until Thursday afternoon, Embraer said it expected discussions with the SEC and the US Department of Justice to continue, without giving any further details about the nature of the allegations.

Embraer declined to offer further details on the investigation, including on the duration or expected scope of the probe.

“It’s the first time in recent memory that anything like this has happened,” said one analyst in São Paulo. “They’re usually viewed as a clean and ethically run company, with a focus on sustainability.”

Embraer, which is also venturing into the defence industry, is one of a select few Brazilian companies that has managed to break out of the Latin American market and compete on a global scale. It supplies aircraft to businesses ranging from the big US airlines to those in China and the Middle East.

The probe follows the removal of the head of Siemens' Brazil unit after an internal investigation had found “violations” of the German company’s guidelines in the subsidiary before 2007.

In a study released this week on the countries whose companies are perceived as most likely to pay bribes when doing business overseas, corruption watchdog Transparency International ranked Brazil as 14th out of a list of 28. Civilian aerospace was ranked as the third least likely sector to be the target of foreign bribes.

Brazil is a Minha Pátria Amada. But I see both the savory and the unpalatable aspects of life in Brazil. Accordingly, I do not fear those who would denounce me as unpatriotic simply for stating what is wrong and by offering up solutions to some of our diverse problems. I can see no merit in nationalism in the manner of Nicolas Chauvin, particularly of the belligerent type. Accordingly, my remark about 'ping-pong'. smilies/smiley.gif

Brazil, like the United States, has been blessed with many natural resources. But, unlike the United States, we have never experienced any significant period of civic representational democracy. We have always been subject to ingrained institutional authoritarianism, whether Portuguese, Imperial, Republican, right wing and more recently left wing. We live in the shadow of the the myth of representational democracy, while the white oligarchy asserts its right to govern by producing impressive election turn-out statistics. Of course, the critical world applauds such apparent proof of the establishment of representational democracy in Brazil, mainly ignorant of the fact that we are forced to the ballot box by a law enacted in the early 1930s. Brazil boasts of the introduction of electronic ballot boxes, but few are aware of the fact that we only have the TSE's assurance that our votes are attributed to the candidate (party) we choose. 'É impossível verificar, na prática, se os programas das 400 mil urnas são corretos.'

http://www.votoseguro.org/

We would do well to start along the road to civic democracy by introducing reforms to three Brazilian voting practices, all of which are controlled by the omnipotent TSE. Firstly, end the compulsory vote. Secondly, end the electronic vote in the manner and form sanctioned and unceasingly promoted by the TSE. Thirdly, the Brazilian public should be permitted to elect candidates who are not members of political parties.

Great comments, Hugo. I share your views on our System of voting, including your observations on our "Electronic" ballots. I note you have some alternative suggestions:

We would do well to start along the road to civic democracy by introducing reforms to three Brazilian voting practices, all of which are controlled by the omnipotent TSE. Firstly, end the compulsory vote. Secondly, end the electronic vote in the manner and form sanctioned and unceasingly promoted by the TSE. Thirdly, the Brazilian public should be permitted to elect candidates who are not members of political parties.

Regarding your first suggestion of eliminating compulsory voting, I have mixed feelings about it.As for as I know, Australia is the only developed country that has this system of voting, where according to some Australian friends I have, functions well. However, I have started questioning the wisdom of eliminating it in our country, for a large majority of our gutless middle class is likely to skip the voting and go to the beaches instead.smilies/shocked.gif. You may think I am hard on them, but I am not. The elections are generally held during the hot spring months and on Sundays and I have heard my own friends and relatives complaining that they have to go and "waste" their time to elect some "ladrão". Sadly, our middle class is scared and submissive to the "authoritative political elite" and for them it doesn't matter who gets elected as long as their bellies and pockets are full . We are not politically engaged and too afraid to question our elected "authorities". What concerns me is that once the obligatory voting is eliminated, it will result in more "vote buying" with the middle class ducking out of their civic responsibility.smilies/sad.gif

We live in a condomínio whose owners are highly educated (Some even have Doctoral degrees from universities overseas). Not many appear for any meetings nor the day of the election of the Síndico. You must know the voting is not obligatory as well as the end results.smilies/angry.gif So I think one of the things that might happen without compulsory voting is that Brasil will end up as "condomínio administrado pela minoria".smilies/sad.gif

When will the Brazilian authorities cease to regard o povão as irresponsible children?

The United States and Israel are planning to attack Iran with Nuclear Weapons
http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/...enumber=54

November 7, 2011

SouthAmerica: Today as an independent sovereignty country; Iran has the right to develop its nuclear weapons.

And I am sure that if the members of the United Nations had the opportunity to vote "Yes" or "No" on that issue: regarding the fact of Iran being an independent sovereignty country and that Iran has the right to develop its nuclear weapons, then the result of the vote it would be as follows:

YES = 90 percent

No = 10 percent

Note: The countries of the world are not as naive and stupid as the US mainstream media think.

The countries around the world are aware that "NATO", Israel and the United States, in general, are becoming very fast completely irrelevant in terms of the new world order of the 21st century.

And if "NATO" decides to also go to South America - "NATO" will get its ass kicked.

By the way, Brazil had 2 French invasions on its history, and in both occasions the French got their ass kicked. And the Brazilians will be glad to kick the ass of Sarkozy and his pals - one more time.

Brazil is not Libya.....

Note: When they say in the news that Israel and the United States are getting ready to attack Iran - it's time for all of us to have a good laugh.....

Hah, hah, hah....

US poverty at new high: 16 percent, or 49.1 Million Americans

Poverty ensnares record 49.1 million Americans as new census measure counts medical, other expenses

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A record number of Americans -- 49.1 million -- are poor, based on a new census measure that for the first time takes into account rising medical costs and other expenses.

The numbers released Monday are part of a first-ever supplemental poverty measure aimed at providing a fuller picture of poverty. Although considered experimental, they promise to stir fresh debate over Social Security, Medicare and programs to help the poor as a congressional supercommittee nears a Nov. 23 deadline to make more than $1 trillion in cuts to the federal budget.

Based on the revised formula, the number of poor people exceeds the record 46.2 million, or 15.1 percent, that was officially reported in September...

I have no prob helping FAB re-invigorate the various aircraft they have picked up on the used market over the past few years and the simulators / training labs to go with but is anyone even remotely hoping they will somehow manage to re-engine the AMX? Reality is Brasil has no need whatsoever for fighter jets. If they do in some small fashion, it's for defense against very localized narco invasions. The whole kit and kabbodle of what they could throw up into the air as defense or stategic war fighting cargo and supply movement would be over and done in a few short hours if that was what NATO or any other country really wanted to do. No one is coming to take over the amazon dear friends, get used to it and stop wasting money that could be best used elsewhere for the benefit of the people.

Ricardo, if it weren't for the health care insurance premium costs projected to be spent over the next quarter century or so I'd be considered a rich man in Brasil. Pobreza de um tipo diferente.

A great French innovation = the guillotine

November 8, 2011

SouthAmerica: I find it very funny when I watch CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, and Bloomberg TV and all these talking heads and many of their guests and how clueless all these people are regarding "Occupy Wall Street" movement.

And how clueless all these people are about the real world outside of the gates of Wall Street.

I bet a lot of people who were in line waiting to get their turn at the guillotine during the French Revolution - they were wondering how come I did not see this coming?

That was a great French innovation for problem solving that we should also bring to America.

By the way, the French people should bring back that innovation to help them fix the current problems that they have, and clean up their corrupt system.

Charlie Rose Show – interview with Mark Zuckerberg, CEO/Co-Founder & Sheryl Sandberg, COO
http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/11981

I did watch the Charlie Rose Show yesterday for about 5 minutes when they were talking about how foreigners come to the US to get their advanced degrees and they were complaining that the US government does not make an effort to keep this human capital here in the US instead of letting them return to their country of origin.

What these people have not grasped as yet is that many of these countries where broadband speed is much faster than in the United States – these are the countries that will create the innovations of tomorrow.

The human capital will move to the places where they have the state-of-the art in high speed broadband technology and they will stay away from countries such as the USA and its obsolete broadband technology – and the world of yesterday....

"According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, America's internet speed ranks 29th out of its 34 members.

At 16,000 kilobits per second, even the unhappy people of Greece – Greece! - receive their internet faster than Americans (14,600)... “

America’s Bridge to Nirvana
By: Edward Luce
Financial Times (UK) – November 7, 2011

Edward Luce writes in the Financial Times about another truth that Americans should know about (America’s Bridge to Nirvana). Luce says America’s infrastructure is “fast descending to second world status.” That is because we spend only 2 % of GDP on infrastructure. Europe spends twice as much, and China four times as much.

What upsets Luce is that Congress has just blocked a $60 billion bill to upgrade infrastructure. It is not surprising Congress’ approval rating is now down to 9%, says Luce.

Luce also mentioned on his article: “Or take America's sluggish broadband. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, America's internet speed ranks 29th out of its 34 members. Some countries, such as France, Japan, and Sweden, offer average speeds more than four times greater than this found in the US. At 16,000 kilobits per second, even the unhappy people of Greece – Greece! - receive their internet faster than Americans (14,600)... “

Ricardo - The Emperor With No Clothes

After some time reading your "dust storm" of 'facts' this is my conclusion. You seem to have the inability to contexualize information, so absorbed you are with vilifying the United States.

The vast United States has an internet market or penetration of nearly 80% of its citizens. Greece does not even enter the list becomes countries near the bottom are not considered. That means that you are comparing technology in America that is on a country wide scale (from areas such as Montana, Alaska, Hawaii, New Mexico to a country that caters to a smaller, urban market.

What is falling behind? In technology? No, the world comes to the United States to learn technology. What is it then? Zuckerberg (whose only claim to fame is a social networking site) means the market application of technology: downloading movies and playing games.

So what!

The United States depends upon a cost-effective roll-out of market applications. It is actually advantageous to allow tiny technologized countries with small technological populations to spend their money on market applications before U.S. companies investing heavily to make use of those applications.

That clearly is a risk but we are not talking about a technological risk but a market applications risk. You need to know the difference.

Japan develops cute gadgets using OUR technoloy taught and developed by the American technological context. Engineering was one of my fields and it is a given that just because you CAN make something doesn't mean that it should be made.

In terms of technology, nearly every potential use of "high speed internet" waits for advances in American technology to allow that to happen. Nanotechnology, high speed low energy circuit boards, higher resolution screens, memory density AND even the vast majority of cultural content that the rest of the world uses it "high speed to download" are products of the United States.

That doesn't mean that initiatives such as Obama's directive to increase internet penetration to nearly 100% does not have merit. It does mean that a nation of 300 million does not need to invest trillions of dollars into a system upgrade if the only marketable advantage at this moment is to download porno movies in 6 minutes rather than 30 minutes.

Regarding American infra=structure. The upgrade is a serious problem. It is only serious because there exist no country with high level of infra-structure as the United States. It is one of the reason that American companies have the highest economies of scale of nearly any country on earth and can nearly dominate any countries markets with cheaper prices if not for tariffs barriers imposed by these countries. According to most economists, the United States can lose 1/4 of its nearly 14 trillions dollars a year GDP which is the world's engine and still dominate the world's economy for the next 100 years. If you are on a watch by the U.S.'s death bed, you might as well go have a cup of coffee. It ain't gonna happen.

Thanks ASP and for this you get my positive vote.smilies/smiley.gif May be Adrian and I disagree sometimes, because he is a Republican from N.C. and I am a simple peasant from Southern Brasil.smilies/wink.gifsmilies/cheesy.gif

But...but...but...jokes apart, I fully agree with Adrian regarding the "High Speed Internet", "Application of Technology", etc;, as many Brasilians with similar background as his share the views. What is the point in having "high speed" Internet in a country when the "access points" are limited or accessible only to a small minority (because it is is too expensive)? It doesn't matter whether you have 10 Mb or 1Mb connection, one must know why he/she requires the speed (to access what content?), before making the choice. Otherwise, it could be an "overkill".

While I have never been to Greece nor can claim to know their Internet Service , I can to certain extent say that we are not all that behind in the "application" of the Internet. Though I would like to see it being used much more as a "learning tool" and not to just download porno movies or to get into "social network". A couple of months ago, the local university was on strike and its library closed. However, I was pleased to hear from some kids who are engineering students that they really didn't need the library to do their homework.Because they had 10 Mb Internet connection with a wireless router (at their rented place) for 90 Reais/month and all three had "Notebooks" and could access the info from all over the world simultaneously and do their homework and finish the assignments given by their instructors. The same applies to school kids who have the Internet at their homes. Therefore my point is that our government should really invest in dedicated backbones exclusively for the education and make it accessible for the "underprivileged" kids.

As for the "deteriorating" infrastructure in the U.S., I cant say much because I just visit it and do not live there. But....but....but... I can tell you that you can buy lots of quality IT products (both soft and hardware) for bargain price and within the limit allowed by our customs and bring them home.

Experts predict that in the next five years 500,000 Indian and 500,000 Chinese immigrants will leave the United States. How will that impact the American economy? Thorium policy in all western nations undermines the successful development of a domestic rare earth market. All of the rare earths that most western mining companies are willing to process are what they call bastnasites or carbonatites. They select these rare earths not because of the high ratios of rare earths but simply the absence of thorium.

Manufacturers using rare earth elements in their products are relocating their manufacturing base inside China. The jobs in manufacturing transfer from the United States and western Europe into the Chinese mainland.

This impacts consumer electronics, green technologies & military technology.

Here is another episode of our TV comedy series - Israel is going to attack Iran...
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 10, 2011

Ricardo: We have a few problems here in the USA that are getting out of hand, such as the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, and a massive European and US financial debt crisis. And never mind a non-existent job market...

We need the old "Wag the Dog" strategy - how about another chapter of the old comedy series "Israel is going to attack Iran..." - the American mainstream media loves that old comedy series. That should take the attention of the real problems for a while.

I hope we are not reaching the saturation point with the audience regarding this old comedy routine.

Anyway, here we go again....Have a good laugh and I hope you get entertained by this show:

In the future episodes Israel should spice up a bit their comedy routine, and they should say for example: how many nukes they are planning to drop over Iran.

That would bring new life to their old comedy series, otherwise it feels like they are showing always the same episode.

We need to add new punchlines to this old comedy series for people to continue to laugh....

The Pakistanis know that the US is heading to the door and very soon the US Army will leave that area of the world including Pakistan, Afghanistan and so forth.

The days of military adventures around the world is coming to a close for the United States in the same way that ended the Soviet Union adventures with the collapse of the Soviet empire.

However, there is a newcomer to this picture and I think it is Gestapo (or whatever the new name given to it by the leaders of unified Germany). written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 11, 2011

Ricardo: Today I posted a follow up posting on the Elite Trader Economics Forum as follows:

November 11, 2011

SouthAmerica: Today the Financial Times had an article: Brazilian groups hit by Europe's upheaval” in which they mentioned that “The crisis in the eurozone is playing havoc with third quarter corporate earnings in Brazil and other emerging markets as companies with international debt and commodity exporters book losses to account for plunge in the local currency.”

These companies borrowed money in Europe and the United States to take advantage of artificially low interest rates, and when the real declined against these currencies then they started to lose their shirt.

As I mentioned on my June 7, 2011 posting when these companies were borrowing this money – they deserve to lose their shirt as I said on my posting “they borrow money in US dollars or euros – then the real falls against these currencies and they destroy their companies because they run out of money and they have a hard time to repay their foreign debt.

I have seen this movie many times before.

The sad part is that they never learn their lesson, they get caught in the trap every time.

Remind about the scoundrels of: "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People"
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 12, 2011

Ricardo: A few months ago I posted this information on the Elite Trader Economics forum, on my Facebook wall, and also here on Brazil magazine, but I need to keep remind my fellow Brazilians that any Brazilian who does business with "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" are going to get screwed one way or another, and they eventually will destroy their companies or if they work for the state at any level - they are going to cause a major meltdown, pillage and fraud - the specialty of "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People".

There's not much difference between doing business with Bernie Maddof or doing business with "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" - if you do business with this corrupt company eventually you will look like an incompetent jackass.

*****

SouthAmerica: There's a reason why the Wall Street crowd including companies such as “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” are descending on Brazil like vultures ready to attack and pillage everything in sight.

“Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” is laying off 230 employees (most likely in New York City) and at the same time they are increasing their office staff in Brazil by 200 vultures, since for these scoundrels Brazil it will be like taking candy away from little kids.

That means that Brazil is in play, and they are going to set Brazil for a fall, and they are going to pillage everything in sight in Brazil – look at Greece today and that is the future of Brazil after “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” and their Wall Street pals do their economic destruction job in Brazil.

Brazil it will be a easy target for “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” and their mafiosi network of scoundrels. The Wall Street major houses and the major international bankers are running out of prey around the world that's why they are all descending into Brazil - to pillage everything in sight, since most of these bankers and Wall Street types are people who have no idea how to make an honest buck other than pillage other people's savings, and steal everything that they can get away with - they are like bottom feeders, parasites, and in the case of "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" they represent pure cancer.

I am not surprised that "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" and some of the other Wall Street major players are all descending in Brazil to go for the kill.

They are running out of prey around the world, and in Wall Street jargon Brazil is in play.

It is very sad to me to see my country being attacked in such a way, and I see the Brazilian government, and Brazilian business class going along with the destruction of my country without even trying to do something about.

The truth is these Wall Street scoundrels are going to pillage everything in sight in Brazil, because that's the only way they know how to make money these days – by first trashing and destroying the economic foundations of a country, then by pillaging everything in sight that they can put their hands on.

Note:

By the way, “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” is the most powerful and influential Mafia family in the United States in every way, and the most profitable than any of their peers:

1) Goldman Sachs the Pillage People

2) Lucchese

3) Bonanno

4) Gambino

5) Colombo

6) Genovese

Ricardo: Author James G. Rickards on his new book “Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis” - he said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has a printing press where they create the SDR's.

I wonder why the world needs the IMF to print worthless currency? We already have the US dollar and in the near future they are going to debase also the value of the euro.

We need to be more realistic, and instead of wasting time with SDR's, they should go directly to monopoly make believe money, and start using it to buy property and other assets in a make believe world.

Since there is not much difference between them, the advantage of using monopoly make believe money over SDR's is that since we were kids we used that type of money to buy houses, railroads, an electric company, a water supply company and so forth.

I have been saying for many years on many of my articles that we have had an economic war that has been under way for many years and this author mentioned that he has participated in the Pentagon economic war games.

I don't know why people don't understand and can't grasp that companies such as “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” are in the front lines working as saboteurs and they set up traps and all kinds of financial situations that eventually blows up and create all kinds of problems to the fools who do business with these scoundrels company.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Reuters) - Alabama's Jefferson County filed for bankruptcy court protection on Wednesday in the biggest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Commissioners for the county, which is home to Birmingham, the state's biggest city and economic powerhouse, voted 4-1 to declare bankruptcy after meeting behind closed doors for two days in a last ditch-attempt to restructure its debt out of court.

As usual "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" was also involved on this latest fraud case:

JP Morgan Investment Consulting Fraud – November 10, 2011
http://www.inthepublicinterest...ting-fraud

...Because Blount Parrish could not serve as a swap provider under Alabama law, Blount solicited Langford to select Goldman Sachs Capital Markets Inc. to participate in the 2003-B swap transaction because Blount Parrish had a consulting agreement with Goldman Sachs.

Goldman Sachs and another New York-based broker-dealer were also pitching swap deals to the County. To prevent Goldman Sachs and the other firm from executing their own swap transactions with the County and ensure the County selected J.P. Morgan Securities instead, LeCroy and MacFaddin agreed to Langford's request that J.P. Morgan Securities make payments to Goldman Sachs and the other firm.

They are a bunch of scam artists and they are very good at selling snake oil.

I am sure there are many Brazilians doing business with them who have no idea how badly they are going to get screwed. It's just a matter of time....

The States is on a fast track to hell and its their own fault. Unbridled greed has controlled this country for the past 400 years and now its biting America in her flazzy fat azz. Fat whiny Americans are losing their minds because they are stupid enuf to put blind faith in government and Wall Street. The only Americans who are still sane are black, Asian and Hispanic Americans who have always been at the bottom of society both in good times and bad.

The Brazilian people know how to weather the storms with optimism and smiles. Not so fat azzed Americans. I am sick of the US with its whining and bishing over every damn thing under the sun. America has had her day at the sun and f-cked it up with her greedy grabbing and military bullying all over the world. you can start by eliminating the foreigners, but just dont shoot me....then the men, then the ugly women and children

the idea is to get the ratio of fine women to 3 for every male

like the other day i went out to my secret spot, there were about 21 fine women and about 7 dudes....then the next day there were 21 dudes and about 7 women...you see what we are up against here?

so stay out of site, enjoy your beer cooler and start culling that herd...

For coordination purposes, even though I should be readily able to spot you as a estrangeiro gone local, maybe you should glue one of those small brasilian flag staffs on the front of your boogie board or whatever you surf on on good days. I can only see culling operations being workable on days with high surf - can't risk leaving soiled sand and the debris. If you don't already have one, maybe you should pick up a shark repelent canister to clip onto your bermudas. That would be another way to mark you as off-limits and you might need it once the feeding frenzy gets stimulated. As to the ugly kids, as you are probably aware I am one of the worlds most fearsome defenders, I might just pop you where it would hurt the most for even suggesting it.

the rules on this thirty yard strip of beach are differant. they are more the rules of the savana, where male lions kill their cubs to mate with the mother,or a gnu gets eaten alive by wild dogs and it looks up as if to say "are you enjoying your meal?". its the rules of d day, invading the normandy beach...killing as many of the male oposition as you can to get to your objective

if you want normal life, walk past the thirty yards where the celulite and old people and families and ugly people hang out...

but this thirty yard strip, you have to suspend reality and play by differant rules

Here is a new episode of the TV comedy series: "Israel is going to attack Iran..."
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 15, 2011

Ricardo: Here is a reality check for the United States and Israel as follows:

November 10, 2011
“Letter to Netanyahu: time is no longer on Israel’s side”
By Kishore Mahbubani
Financial Times (UK)

Friends of Israel unite! The time has come to send a common message: time is no longer on Israel’s side. Geopolitical forces are moving inexorably against it.

One cardinal mistake no small state should make is to put all its eggs into one basket, even a basket as strong as the US. Despite its huge influence, Israel cannot change the shifting geopolitical tides. America’s power has peaked: its economy will not shrink in absolute terms but it will shrink irresistibly in relative terms. This would have happened naturally but gradually. But the continuing economic crises in the US will hasten the decline in America’s influence. Shrinking budgets will cut defence and aid expenditures. A crippled economic giant with no rockets to launch its astronauts into outer space will lose its “mystique”. Countries will no longer hesitate to vote against American preferences.

This is what happened with the Unesco vote of October 31. The news agencies reported correctly that 107 countries voted in favour of admitting Palestine into Unesco and 14 countries voted against. What they failed to report is that these 107 countries represented 77.5 per cent of the world’s population; the 14 countries just 7.3 per cent. The American founding fathers called in the Declaration of Independence for “a decent respect to the opinions of mankind”. The American decision to suspend Unesco funding clearly showed no such decent respect.

There can be no doubt where the opinion of “mankind” is headed on the Israel-Palestine issue. The world is exasperated with Israeli intransigence on the two-state solution. It is even more exasperated with the continuous increase in illegal Israeli settlements on the West Bank. Some European states voted with Israel but their citizens are clearly sympathizing more and more with the Palestinians. The world knows that while Americans and Europeans love to preach the virtue of speaking “truth to power”, they have displayed total cowardice on the Israel-Palestine issue.

This cowardice now poses the greatest existential threat to Israel. Few friends of Israel dare tell it the inconvenient truth that time is no longer on Israel’s side. American power is declining relatively. Europe is becoming progressively irrelevant. Equally important, the power of the Islamic world has troughed. Now the relative influence of the Islamic world can only increase, despite the many challenges it faces. Turkey’s assertiveness, especially on the Israel-Palestine issue, is a sign of the new world order that is emerging.

The democratic revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia also end the era of pro-Israel dictators. Future leaders of these countries will have to reflect their populations’ sentiments. No future Egyptian government can impose sanctions on Hamas as Hosni Mubarak did. Pressure to speak out against Israel will grow. In Saudi Arabia, Prince Turki al-Faisal has warned that, “With most of the Arab world in upheaval, the ‘special relationship’ between Saudi Arabia and the US would increasingly be seen as toxic by the vast majority of Arabs and Muslims, who demand justice for the Palestinian people.”

The 5bn non-American and non-Muslim peoples of the world will have to make a clear choice: between supporting Israel (with lukewarm dividends at best from a declining America) or voting against Israel (buying insurance from a rising tide of anger in a more assertive and democratised Islamic world). Equally important, justice weighs in favour of giving the Palestinian people a right enjoyed by virtually every other people in the world: statehood.

Neither the US Congress nor Israeli nuclear weapons can protect Israel when the balance of geopolitical forces tips against it. And Israel could well trigger such a tipping point with any unilateral military strike against Iran. No one can predict the consequences when Israel becomes totally isolated from the global community. But it will not be a pretty picture.

Hence, Israel’s friends should act quickly and send a short letter saying: “Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu, time is no longer on Israel’s side. Please work quickly to implement the two-state solution that President Bill Clinton proposed in January 2001.”

The late Israeli foreign minister Abba Eban once said: “The Palestinians never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” Sadly, the same may some day be said of the Israelis.

Here is a new episode of the TV comedy series: "Israel is going to attack Iran..."
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 15, 2011

Ricardo: The Financial Times (UK) the weekend edition November 12 and 13, 2011 published an article that was pure propaganda, and the kind of misinformation that you usually find on 3rd rate newspapers and not in a newspaper of the quality of the Financial Times.

On page number 3 they published an article: Israeli debate rages over Iran attack” by Tobias Buck.

And they had a picture of a missile and smoke coming out of this missile. And under the picture you can read: Smoke pours from a rocket during a simulated attack in Holon outside Tel Aviv. A UN report has highlighted concerns over Iran's nuclear plans.

The article wants to give the reader the perception that Holon has been attacked by an Iranian missile.

They are trying to replay that Pathetic scene from the first Gulf war when the people in Israel were all wearing gas masks to give the audience that were watching CNN live news the perception that Saddam Hussein was attacking Israel with chemical weapons.

Maybe in the next chapter of this comedy series the Israelis can replay live that same fiasco on CNN and the BBC news: they can replay that chemical weapons missile routine once again.

This comedy series to be continued with new materials including more silly commentaries and cheap propaganda.

SouthAmerica: The Truman Show is about a make believe world - the same type of world that Mark Levine live in, and it's obvious that Mark Levine is another fanatic member of the "Jewish Lobby", and these poor people don't have the ability to recognize when the party is over.

Today all we can do is laugh about their delusional ideas, and play along with their bogeyman stories.

"Israel is going to attack Iran..."

Hah, hah, hah....

Reminder:

The Jewish comedians can be very funny, and they just up dated a little the old Jewish Catskills Comedy Lines...

"Israel is going to attack Iran..."

Then all the Jewish comedians come out to do their usual comedy routines all over the US mainstream media.

As long as the old comedy act works, then why not bring it back for another rerun....

Hah, hah, hah....

The only problem is that they are probably reaching the saturation point with their audience with this old material - and they need to refresh their comedy routine.

The Destruction of the Brazilian economy by "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" and its network of thieves.

Ricardo: I know how naive and many Brazilians get very impressed when they hear the name of "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People".

These fools don't know what is hiding behind the mask.

The Destruction of the Brazilian economy by "Goldman Sachs the Pillage People" and its network of thieves.
written by Ricardo C. Amaral, November 20, 2011

Ricardo: I am sorry, I am powerless and I can't do anything about other than watch the Brazilian economy being sabotaged and resulting in an economic and financial meltdown just like Greece.

There is a “Trojan Horse” in Brazil and the Brazilians are not aware about what is in store for them and how the saboteurs are going to set up the companies in Brazil and also government at all levels for a big fall.

Buy any products from “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” or get any advise from these thieves and you can be sure that you are going to lose your shirt. If you are a large corporation and “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” gives you any advise about any type of hedge, swaps, or any other type of financial transaction then you can be sure that you are being set up for a fall.

How do you think “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” is able to make a ton of money on a constant basis when everybody else is having a very hard time and are barely able to get by?

Because they find fools like anybody who still doing business with “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” and they set up these suckers for a fall where “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” always manage to make money.

Most Brazilians are naïve and they don't understand that there's a major economic war going on, and the Pentagon and also major governments in Europe are playing economic and financial war games as described in the book “Currency Wars” and also on the following video:

Lawless Sociopath Financial Terrorist Bankers' War of Fraud : Max Keiser – November 19, 2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBQkZyI1aP4

...As Occupy Wall Street saw a massive day of action, people working on Wall Street actually got pink slips. It's reportedly the second week of major layoffs. Job cuts on Wall Street are supposed to be brutal coming up here with firms expected to shed 75,000 jobs according to CNN. Credit Suisse, Bank of America, JP Morgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, UBS all reportedly making cuts. So are we gonna see bankers start occupying Wall Street?

***

I know that my fellow Brazilians can't connect the dots even to save their lives.

The Brazilian economy and financial system is under attack right now, and most Brazilian don't have a clue about what is going on. After “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” do their demolition job and shred into pieces the Brazilian economy and economic system – they are going to point the finger at the Brazilian businessmen and all kinds of Brazilian government officials and they are going to say how corrupt and incompetent the Brazilian system was and that is why the Brazilian economy became a pathetic example like Greece and like Argentina just a few years ago.

Brazilians think that their political and economic system is very corrupt, but Brazilians are going to learn a lesson – by the time “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” get through you guys then you will realize what world class pillaging, raping, and stealing everything in sight is all about.

By the time “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” gets through with Brazil – Greece is going to look like a prosperous and well managed country when compared with the wreckage that “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” is going to leave behind in Brazil.

Any Brazilian from any corporation or from government at any level who does any business with “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” - you are a fool and you deserve to get screwed and lose all your money.

Many people lost all their money when they found out that they had invested money on Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme. The Bernie Madoff deal caught a lot of people by surprise, but that's not the case of doing business with “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” since they have a long track record of screwing people all over the world.

In a nutshell:

If you still doing business with “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” then you must be corrupt and be involved in some kind of shady business with that organization, or you are an idiot or a moron.

Ricardo, You can do something by sending e-mail messages or making phone calls to your friends and relatives in Brasil, including the president of our Senate, whom you know personally.

Ricardo: Joao, I posted the following on the Elite Trader Economics forum and in a matter of hours hundreds of people were watching that video and probably mentioning to their friends.

If people from other countries had an understanding of what has been going on in the US stock market then they would not invest even a penny on this rigged game.

But the fools from around the world continue to trust the US stock market and its criminal Wall Street houses such as “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” and they still sending their money to the safe haven (rigged game) of Wall Street.

The Brazilian government and the Brazilian mainstream media should start investigating anything that the criminals of “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” are doing in Brazil, any deals, and any company that still doing business with these crooks should be on the red flag alert.

The US government has been infiltrated and have been poisoned from the inside by former “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” in high government positions.

This is a corporation that thinks that they are above the law and that it does not matter what they do regarding their criminal actions they know that the US government will not do anything against that organization – they know they have the US government in the bag.

They also know that they can gamble and lose tons of money and the US government would bail them out with tax payers money, because “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” it is to big to go to jail.

Joao, “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” have the best law firms and PR firms at their disposal and they can use them at any time to fight against anyone who wants to bring criminal charges against these crooks. And don't forget the professional criminals from “Goldman Sachs the Pillage People” knows how to “wine and dine' their victims before they give them a good screw.

The rigged game

Ricardo: Answering to your rants is a real waste of time, I am not sure if you are just a mental case or if you are part of the propaganda related to the global economic war that is underway.

There's a bigger chance that you are just a mental case, because your rants shows that you are completely out of touch with reality.

You should not skip your meds, or maybe you are just a moron.

Anyway, after you take your meds and you can focus a little better then try to see if you are able to understand the subject of this video:

Brazil's rising star – July 31, 2011

Based on your postings on Brazzil magazine I don't have any expectation that you have enough intellect or brain cells left to be able to understand the subject of this video.

Give a try anyway!!!!!
