Brazil Gives Australia a Hand on Biofuel Prospects

The Australian government will create a study group to examine the impacts of ethanol and other biofuels usage in the country. The announcement was made during the visit of the Brazilian minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Roberto Rodrigues, to that country between May 29 and May 30.

Australia will also evaluate the costs and benefits of producing alcohol fuel in the country. Minister Rodrigues travelled at the invitation of the Australian government.

He met with federal and state officials and had meetings with influential representatives of Australian agribusiness.

In these meetings, Rodrigues spoke of the advances already made by Brazil in the bioenergy sector, such as the benefits the two countries may have with the increase in renewable fuels usage, especially alcohol.

Brazil is a world leader in the production of alcohol fuel and is making a series of investments in the biofuels area.
