You don't have to tell me about sports arenas, debt, and public tax dollars. The Milwaukee area has been paying for the Brewers stadium (and its retractable roof that does not work) for a long time.

The favelas do not bother me so much as, the trajectory of a city economically. It is perhaps telling Cleveland for example, would not have been considered for the Olympics. The economic trajectory of Rio and Cleveland are heading in two different directions.
