Why are carioca women considered more beautiful than women in other parts of Brazil??? it seems that this is said mostly by Americans. I don't think I'm being cynical when I assume that it's because they wear the fewest clothes. Are women in SP, Curitiba, Brasilia, Minas Gerais, Amazonas, etc. less beautiful? Or are they too prim (fully clothed) for the masses of wannabe sex tourists that visit Brazil? Really, sometimes I think what passes for an interest in Brazilian culture is really just jungle fever with a samba beat!

I am American and I have met the most beautiful woman in the world and she is from Sao Paulo state...in Marilia!   I used to work with a very beautiful and wonderful woman in Sao Paulo who was from Recife.  So...I don't have a bias about what part of Brazil they are from...I don't make the generalization that Cariocas are more beautiful.....I think Brazilian women all over the country are incredible..

Nossa, don't tell me- she's mulata and you're an old, white guy with money who spends too much time on the Internet!

This conversation is inane. Do you people really think it matters what part of Brazil the woman is from? That's like saying "women from California are more beautiful than women from New York." It's a case by case basis. I've never been to Brazil, but I'm going in a month. I'll let you know if I see any patterns, but it sounds like a dumb theory to me.

That's not the point (what part of Brazil a woman is from). The implication from the first post is that Americans think of (or know of) only one type of Brazilian woman, the Carioca hottie (typically mulata), because of their ignorance/laziness to learn any more about the country.

"Why are carioca women considered more beautiful than women in other parts of Brazil??? it seems that this is said mostly by Americans."

You really want to know why? Ok, we all know that the typical American has no idea about other cultures, right? So ask any American what is the first thing they think of when you say "Brazil". I am willing to bet they will say "Rio de Janeiro". †So, with the influence of movies and tourism, the next thing that is brought to mind when thinking of Rio, is beaches and beautiful women.

Therein lies the connection that most Americans think that the most beautiful women are Carioca. Simply put, they have never been exposed to women of other cities and areas... only what they see on tv. So there is no bases for a comparison. The lack of information causes them to make an uneducated decision.

Now, I have seen many beautiful Carioca women, we cannot argue that there are many of them in Rio. Yet, the most beautiful women I have seen were from where I spend most of my time, the Nordeste. So since I have not visited ALL of Brazil I would have to say that the most beautiful women are from the Nordeste... and remember... due to MY lack of information, that is MY uneducated opinion. Get my point?

There are huge differences on how women (and people in general) look in each region of Brazil. The most beautiful women in Brazil are not in Rio de Janeiro, but in the southern portion (Rio Grande do Sul), land of 9 out of 10 brazilian top models, like Gisele BŁndchen, Luize Altenhofen, Shirley Mallmann, etc.

9 out of the 10 top Brasilian models are from RS because the modeling industry wants white girls! Still, after Gisele is Caroline Ribeiro (Revlon) and she is from the NE.

Guest I think that exists beautiful women everywhere in Brazil, but in my humble opinion, I think that exists some confusion about mulata and a tanned girl from any part of Brazil that has beaches. Because of this, they apear to be more apealing to an American. I saw girls using tiny biquinis all my life, and believe me, most of them are elegant even wearing little cloth. Of course you will find the vulgar one's. As said in other topic, the cariocas have style, bossa, charm, so when they use something all girls from other Brazilian states copy them. This always happen in the summer, biquinis get sometimes bigger than before or sometimes the biquinis get smaller. The tanned skin passes a feeling of life, hapiness. So on the beach you can tell apart who is not from Rio.
