Is it just me, ladies (and surely there must be some here), or does it seem that American men get played for suckers many, many more times than American women? Are American men just easier targets (and not just the typical American louts, or is that true of all males here in Am-Br relationships)? Are American men more desirable than their female counterparts in the eyes of Brazilians? Are Brazilian women more aggressive than their male counterparts? Hey, there are lots of sexy Brazilian men out there but I don't feel the need to base a whole trip on the urge to meet them! Comments from native Brazilians and those not marrying their Carioca nannies/maids are greatly appreciated!

go to the old forum and perform a search for: "NorthAmerican & European men -and- Brazilian women". It will all be explained.

No, this link is mostly a post about birth control and population. Not informative for what he was asking for.

In Europe and North America, there are more older men than there are younger women. The opposite is currently true in Brazil. Historically, women pursue men older than themselves because an older man is more likely to have made the investment in himself that allows him to financially support a family. Historically, when a man looks for a wife he is looking for someone who can have and care for children (that generally means a woman who is younger than himself). In other words, the reason North American and Western European men go after Brazilian women is due to demographics (i.e. birth control and population).

Observer, are you sure about this? Just curious. Can you show me some figures to support the claim that there are "more younger women than older men" in Brazil? I heard that the opposite was true -- that especially in Brazil's larger cities there are way more old farts than young people.

this link will bring you to the same place that fernando is trying to send you. In the upper right hand side of the window, you can see a button that will change the language to english if you need to. http://www1.ibge.gov.br/home/
