The problem with the General topic is that its too general. "What are the girls like in Brazil?" (Well, they are like any other girls) "Is there racism there?" (yes, just as in any other country) "when is the best time to go?" (if you like the summer, go in the summer). Not trying to complain, but I dont feel these types of questions are helping anybody. My 2 cents

Concordo completemente!!!! I think that the forum should be a place to exchange practical information which helps americans and brazilians learn about the respective countries in ways which are beneficial and positive. Drugs, immoral sexual behavior and pornography do not belong in this forum. There are plenty of websites for those who want to do that. Relationship problems belong on Jerry Springer and written into advice columns. But if you have to keep the trash, at least have seperate catagories like pornography and relationship problems. Then those of us who are sincere in wanting to learn about the other country won't waste our time. To simplifify for users, you could even have catagories like costs, opportunities, rules and regulations, history, language, etc, so people can scan quickly and find what they are interested in.

Too much categorization would be cumbersome to navigate, in my opinion. One huge forum has worked in the past, and I think it'd work now. (I think the "Culture" forum should just be eliminated.) There have always been stupid and useless threads, but they're pretty easy to avoid. There's simply not enough activity on this message board (yet) to justify having multiple forums.

I would personally like to see a further split in the topics offered to: PERSONAL, POLITICAL, GENERAL AND CULTURAL. And to have the forums moderated. If someone posts the wrong topic in the wrong forum thread, delete it. I had different thoughts when I first saw the 'new forum' as posted by Lucas, but after watching it for a few days came to like it. It seemed that people were being just a little more courteous and interesting when the new forums were moderated. I kind of think Brazzil acted a little too quickly in their alterations of the forum and it should have run for at least three months before judgement was made. But, that's just personal opinion.
