Brazilian Congressmen have started to make some long-needed reforms in the House of Representatives. These include ending extra payments for extraordinary sittings during the two official annual recess periods and cutting back on the number of holidays they enjoy.

Brazilian lawmakers have a much higher annual salary when all the perks are included, than lawmakers in the U.S, France, Spain and the U.K, just to name a few.
But your GDP per capita is only a tiny fraction of these countries, which shows that it is even more shameful that it already is.
Then dont say that developed nations have abused your nations for decades.
Just look closer. Open your eyes and minds. Brazil society has been raped and robbed by their own people, the minority of wealthy. In fact you have 2 clans, those who benefits from the system and those who pay for it.
The Brazilian government is disbursing 50 % of their budget to civil servants salaries and pensioneers, ex civil servants. Add the costs of travels, expenses, buildings, electricity, IT, corruption, etc Then add again the high interest rates your government has to pay for servicing local and foreign borrowing and there remain very very little for the majority of brazilian citizens.
But at the end, your society is accepting this facts. There are never street demonstrations by the millions and millions telling the government how angry you are. Once in a while you have just 10'000 people protesting and only in Brasilia. As you do nothing, why do you think your politicians will change anything to what they do wrongly, on purpose?
Just look in Bolivia. A country of 9 millions people or 1/20th of Brazil. But they were far far more than 10'000 when they protested not later than last year !
At the end YOU elected them and you just do nothing when you are not satisified with what they do !
WAKE UP ! STAND UP !

Brazilian Lawmakers have no respect for its people and openly treat them with contempt but still the public vote for them and do nothing so this makes no sense either.
Why don't the people of Brazil take to the streets in their millions and demand to be treated with respect. From what i have seen none of these polictal party's are any better than the other and do not deserve votes from the public at all. What is needed is a complete overhall of the political system from top to bottem and implement some new fresh blood with visions and foresight and new ideas that work.
Being complacent is only allowing those who should know better to act above the law with impunity, which is making them take the p...s even more.Brazil belongs to the people not the Government.
HELLO BRAZIL CAN YOU WAKE UP OUT OF THIS COMA.

Well, I think in Brazil there is the frustration that “taking it to the streets” would be one more futile act in their lives. It is a country that moves forward at a snails pace – if it moves forward at all. Change does not occur at the speed of thought or action. Many deal with momentous frustrations and bureaucratic under-takings daily, however to no avail. The thought here being that, if it takes x number of hours to achieve a simple y, why should I invest even more time to attempt the impossible?
This is Brazil: 500 years of opportunities, always followed by failures. Who really wants to waste their time, risk having a smashed skull, for protesting in front of the Brazilian National Congress when you can sit back, poison yourself with cheap pinga, dance samba and root for (incert futebol team of choice)?

Thanks for the above detailed insight, it just seems like a no win catch 22 situation which is frustrating and soul destroying.
My only question is, why would a Government want to oppress its own people and hinder development and progress. From what i have read on this website you lot seem quite intelligent and can express yourselves well in detail and are well informed on what is taking place in Brazil so why cant this knowledge be used constructively? This is uncomprehensible.
I do not think anyone with half a brain could take a country like Brazil seriously in this present situation because the odds would be completely stacked against them. You are missing out on so much in all areas of your society. Reading what you have written has made me SAD and I appreciate what i have in my country. If Adults can behave in this way, what can you expect from children. There seems to be suffering, suffering, suffering and no lifeline.
I am really sorry all the same. I dont know what else to say.
Please accept my sincere simpathay for Brazilians who are caught up in this abominable calamity.
