Message: I am having a hard time finding any movies or music thats
from brasil, does anyone know where to find these? I live in
California, specifically San Diego, but I have family in San
Francisco as well. I want Bicho De Sete Cabesas, Cidade De
Deus, Abril Despedacado, e Central do Brasil on DVD. And any
Zeco Baleiro, Arnaldo Antunes, or Ceumar cds. Any
suggestions would be appreciated

You should be able to get all the CDs you want from a company called Central do Brasil, which imports--according to what I've being told--practically every CD released in Brazil.
They are in Florida, and their telephones are:
954-785-5991 and 954-785-2131

Message: Adam:
You may try to get the films or CDs you want from a Brazilian virtual store. Some of them accept requests from abroad.
Try these:
- DVD WORLD at http://dvdworld.com.br/dvdworld.hts
- AMERICANAS at http://www.americanas.com.br
- GLOBO at http://globoshopping.globo.com/
The two sites are in Portuguese.
I don't think "Cidade de Deus" has come out on DVD yet since it is a very recent movie. But surely you will find Central do Brasil and the others.

Not having a Web presence does not prevent Central do Brasil from sellings CDs. They have telephone numbers as mentioned above.

Message: Make sure you know about region codes before buying your DVD's. If you don't know about...DVD players sold in the USA usually are set to region code 1. Brazil is in region code 4. You can buy DVD players on "open region" code which supposedly can read any DVD. I was just doing this research yesterday as a friend of mine from Brazil wants to send me a DVD from there. I asked her to check the region code on the DVD (it should say on the package), before she sends it to me as I am sure my DVD player is region code 1 as I bought it at Best Buy.
Just keep that in mind! Ahhh..you should watch Bossa Nova some time too! It is a very good movie from Brazil..funny and cute. I taped it when it came on Cable TV not long ago.
"What is his address"...."www."...RISOS!!!!

Message: Le Video, on 9th Ave. (west side or ocean side of the block) between Lincoln Way and Irving St. (Sunset District)in San Francisco has many Brasilian videos, the VCR type. They have a fairly decent section on Brasil films and we rent whenever visiting Grandma up the street.

But not having a Web presence prevents them from being
considered a serious company in this day and age. Only the
shoddiest companies run without a Web site.

FYI, they are the largest importers of Brazilian music in the United States and are resellers of Brazilian CDs to most of the CD stores.

Message: Go to www.yahoo.com, then to yellow pages, type in city and state where you live, then do search typing in words like Brazilian and Brazil. You are likely to find enough.
If not, call this companie International Specialty Imports, FL 954-571-7081. It is a distributor of Brazilian Products in the uS. They do not have cds but they can give you a number in California. I used to work there so I know they have.
You can also go to
www.sendex.net, very good service. Need to be paient though , cause the site is kindda slow.
