Subject: What is your favourite Brasilian food?|
I absolutely love the following foods from Brasil. Moqueca, acaraje, xinxim de galinha, caruru and tapioca. I only recently tasted tapioca on my last trip to Brasil, when I was in Maceio. I love the different flavourings of this pancake style meal and itís very cheap.
As for the other foods, Brasilian food is not that readily available in Australia and the restaurants that sell some of these dishes are just passable.
The next best option is to cook them yourself, which I like to do on weekends. My favourite is moqueca a seafood type stew containing a variety of seafoods, flavoured with tomato, onions, coriander and coconut milk.
I love to entertain my friends with my Brasilian cooking and music, since many are very ignorant about the culture of Brasil. I try to make them a little bit more aware that Brasil, is just more than Rio and Sao Paulo and the Amazon rainforest.
My favourite area of Brasil is Bahia and this weekend I will be making the time consuming national dish of feijoada, inviting my friends around, drinking some cerveja and whisky and loading up the CD player with Brasilian music. Let the festa begin, itís Spring time in Australia, a great time to party.
I will be stacking the CD player with the following bands Daniela Mercury, Carlinhos Brown, Ivo Meirelles, Skank, Cidade Negra and Banda Eva.
So what type of Brasilian foods, do other people on this forum appreciate?
