This place is beautiful and I love it! Anyway, part of my project I need help on is the flag. I have a picture, but I need to know what it means, especially the colors. Brasil could use a lot more of both. I don't know why the colors were chosen. I've been told that the stars are supposed to replicate how the sky looked over Rio when Brazilian independence from Portugal was declared. You might want to confirm that, however. The meaning of the colors: Green: it symbolizes the Brazilian tropical forests and rainforests. Yellow: it symbolizes gold. By the time Brazil got independent from Portugal, gold was the country's main natural resource. Blue: it symbolizes the Brazilian sky. The stars: The stars as shown in the flag resemble the Brazilian sky over the city of Rio de Janeiro on the day the independence was declared. There are 27 stars, one representing each Brazilian state. When a new state is created, a new star is added to the flag. The ditto: "Ordem e Progresso", which means "Order and Progress". Rene | |
