Where is a pretty and inexpensive place near the beach to retire in Brazil. No cities, but perhaps a small coastal town on the Atlantic ?

You should try the NE atlantic coast of Brazil for cheap retirement. Specifically Joao Pessoa in Paraiba, it is a state capital, has wonderful beaches and you can get nice apt near the beach for Real 75K
