Hello,

Anyone know of a decent, affordable one or two bedroon apartment in Ipanima or Copacabana? I will be in Rio for a least 1 year. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Terrance: Go to www.oglobo.com (Rio newspaper); click on "imoveis" (means property and found down on the left column under Services) ; when page comes up, then click on aluego (for rent); click on area you want; click on type of quarters...play with this website until you get the hang of it. If you know some spanish, it will help, but, honestly...I'm still going to my Portuguese dictionary ;-) You will find some good bargains there, + an education and fun in looking! Currently, the real is close to 2.4 to the dollar. You can ballpark the currency difference by multiplying the rent by 4X. eg: 400 reals X 4= about$160 US. To be more nearly correct, divide 400/2.4=166.67! Like I say...ballpark.
Buena suerte...gonna have to learn that in Portuguese before I go;-)
