Letters - October 95

A song and the news

Here I am in Atlanta, Georgia, starting a Master's Degree program in International Public Health. I already miss the Brazilian community in Los Angeles. If I don't find any of the Brazilian "spirit" through wonderful live music in Atlanta, I can at least play my CDs and enjoy BRAZZIL - News from Brazil.

Lori Miller - Atlanta, Georgia

Can you help?

While in Belo Horizonte this July I fell in love with Capoeira. I am now living in Portland, Oregon, and can't find it anywhere. I've heard that they have it only in certain areas of California and that's disappointing. Please send me any information about places to start Capoeira in Portland or surrounding areas. Thanks! Obrigada.

Michelle Fleming - Portland, Oregon

From the WEB

Enclosed please find a check in the amount of $3.00 for a one year subscription to BRAZZIL - News from Brazil. I have already signed up for the subscription through your WWW homepage. I am looking forward to reading your magazine. By the way, your homepage is wonderful. Please keep up with the excellent work.

Master in Harassment

I am a Master's candidate in international management and am looking for literature, periodicals, journals, etc., that will help me with my thesis. I wish to research "Sexual Harassment in Brazil" - how it is viewed in Brazil by Brazilians, how US legislation is affecting Brazilian sexual harassment policy, what exactly is the policy in Brazil, how policy is made, implemented, and accepted . This could all be put into the context of US/multinational companies that operate in Brazil.

If you could direct me to any literature regarding this topic I would greatly appreciate it. I realize that sexual harassment as a phenomenon may be a non-issue (or an emerging issue) in Latin countries and this is exactly what I would like to research. How is policy forming (if any) in Brazil regarding sexual harassment? Any assistance will be well-received. I would even submit an article length summary for BRAZZIL - News from Brazil if there is interest.

Sure you can

I am Brazilian and lived in New York for a period of three years. During this time I was a reader of your magazine. Then I had to move to Lebanon and since here there is absolutely nothing from Brazil I would like to know if I can make a subscription of BRAZZIL - News from Brazil.

Rita Guedes - Beirut, Lebanon

Sorry, no backies

I love your magazine. I'm sending a check for $3.00 to you today for a new subscription. I'd also like to purchase some back issues. I'd like the one that contains the interview with Ivan Lins. Do you still have a copy of it?

Mark Isbell - Mission Viejo, California

Paradise then

The day that the buying power of the Brazilian people is the same as that of the American people than there would be no better place in the whole world to live than in Brazil.

Reynold Everett - San Bruno, CA

Brazil on her mind

Recently, I discovered your magazine when I had lunch with friends at Bahia Cabana in San Francisco. Enclosed please find my check of $3.00 for a one year subscription. Even though I visit Brazil at least every other year, I miss it very much and like to read news from there. I was born in Portugal but went to Brazil when I was 17 years old and lived there for 14 years. I am an attorney in Brazil, Portugal and California. I opened my own office in San Francisco recently. Please keep up the good work. I look forward to receiving the next magazine.

Laura Basaloco-Lapo - San Francisco, California

Looking for street kids

Maria Lopes - Oxnard, California
