Argentina Wants More Business with Brazil’s Northeast

The Brazil-Argentina Chamber of Commerce, with offices in Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, and São Paulo, intends to open a unit in the Northeast of Brazil, probably in Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco. The idea is to intensify commerce between the two countries.

The first step towards this initiative is this week’s visit of 12 Argentinean business people to Recife. The group, with representatives of the food, cosmetics, fuel, computers, and plastics sectors, is coordinated by the president of the Brazil-Argentina Chamber of Commerce, Jorge Rodriguez Aparício.

Pernambuco’s Governor in office, José Mendonça Filho, said during the entrepreneurs’ visit that he sees with enthusiasm the expansion of commercial relations between the two countries.

He will make the official channels of investment attraction available to the group, such as the Agency for the Economic Development of Pernambuco (Addiper), responsible for initiatives to stimulate the strengthening of economic activities in that state.

The foreign mission’s agenda includes participation in business meetings with representatives of the Association of Supermarkets of Pernambuco. The Argentineans’ trip to Recife will end today, with visits to several companies.

Brazilian entrepreneurs will also go to Argentina (Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Córdoba), March 18-23, to participate in meetings with the Chancellery, the Argentinean Chamber, as well as to visit the Merchandise Distribution Model Center.
