Sun Brings Its Sun Tech Days to Brazil

California-based Sun Microsystems, Inc., the creator and leading advocate of Java technology, yesterday announced that Dr. James Gosling, chief technology officer for Sun’s Developer Platforms Group, keynoted at the Sun Tech Days event in São Paulo, Brazil, April 5-6.

Dr. Gosling, globally recognized as the “Father of Java,” presented a compelling message on “Java: Building the Connected World” to attendees at the event.


Other key announcements from the event included that SouJava, the largest Brazilian Java Users Group (JUG), became a member of the Java Community Process  (JCP). 


SouJava, the Brazilian Java Users Society, is the first Java Users Group (JUG) to join the JCP and the group includes Java users and Java evangelists from Brazil whose objectives are to strengthen, expand and professionalize the use of Java technology in the country.


With SouJava now a member of the community, the global reach of the JCP program now expands considerably to include the largest and most active JUG in Brazil.


In addition, attendees were invited to an executive panel and Q&A session following a presentation which featured James Gosling, the Father of Java, and Vice-President, Sun Microsystems, Onno Kluyt, senior director, JCP Program, Sun Microsystems and JCP Chair, Dabolir Topic, Kaffe Project, Geir Magnusson Jr., Vice-President, Apache Software Foundation and ASF representative to the JCP Executive Committee and Sergio Amadeu, President of ITI (National Institute of Information Technology).


“James’ presentations are always inspiring, a developer speaking to developers. This is perfect, since Sun Tech Days is a developer gathering, where developers from the public sector, educational institutions and companies come together to learn the latest about Java technology.
