Brazil’s Trade Balance US$ 10.6 Billion in the Black

Manufactured products, industrialized products with high added value, were the highlight in Brazilian exports in the first three weeks of April.

Transport materials, like cars and aircraft, responsible for the greatest export in April, generated, up to the 17th, a daily export average of US$ 63.671 million. In total, the daily export average of manufactured products was US$ 245.4 million.

Soon after automobiles and aircraft came metallurgy products, like steel and wrought iron, the second most exported products, with a daily average of US$ 59.260 million.

Soy, with an average of US$ 45.984 million, and oil and derivatives, with an average of US$ 38.923 million, came after that.

The daily average of semi-manufactured products, partially industrialized products with low added value, such as soy chaff and sawed wood, was US$ 66.7 million, and that of basic products, non industrialized items, such as ores and grain, totalled US$ 146.7 million.

In comparison with the same period last year, exports of semi-manufactured products were those that most grew, with 68.8%, followed by basic products, which had growth of 54.7%, and by that of manufactured products, which rose 28.9%.

The Brazilian trade balance accumulated a positive balance of US$ 10.607 billion in the year. In the month, the balance is US$ 2.28 billion.

The minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan, stated that he is pleased with the trade balance result, but he pointed out that the Ministry team does not work targeting a surplus, but targeting exports.

“My forecast is that we are going to reach our target of US$ 112 billion (in exports this year),” stated the Minister.

In the accumulated result for the year, exports have already reached US$ 29.596 billion, with an increase of 29.9% in comparison to last year.

“The Ministry’s team work is not to produce a surplus, it is to increase exports, as they have a good effect for the economy and generate jobs,” stated Furlan.

The Minister also stated that there is no reason for resting when faced with the results and potential of the country.

“There is a fair reason for celebration of a target that was reached, but when a target is reached it is as if you get a cup for a championship. It goes onto a shelf because the next championship will soon begin, immediately,” finished off Furlan.
