Brazil: 9,000 Strong Police Force to Secure Arab Summit

Around 9 thousand police and security personnel will be mobilized to guarantee the security of heads of State and delegations attending the South America/Arab Countries Summit next week in the Brazilian capital, BrasÀlia, from Monday, May 9, to Wednesday, May 11.

This Thursday, May 5, some of them took part in training exercises. The motorcade and traffic detour simulations lasted all day.

“Everything occurred normally. We made small placement adjustments. But we believe we are meeting all security requirements for the Summit to be a success,” observed Coronel Antônio Carlos Failaci, of the security coordination group.

The institutions involved in the security scheme include the Army, Air Force, and Navy commands, the Ministry of Justice (Federal Police and Federal Highway Police), and the Secretariats of Safety (firemen and civil and military police) and Health of the Federal District.
