Brazil Surplus Reaches US$ 29 Billion for the Year

Last week, Brazil exported US$ 2.931 billion and imported US$ 2.193 billion, which resulted in a trade surplus of US$ 738 million. The information was released today, August 29, by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.

During the month shipments reached US$ 11.485 billion, external purchases reached US$ 7.619 billion, resulting in a surplus of US$ 3.866 billion.

In the year’s accumulated value, exports yielded US$ 86 billion, imports US$ 56.9 billion and the surplus in the trade balance is at US$ 29 billion.

Coffee

According to a study by the National Food Supply Company (Conab), Brazil should produce 41.6 million 60 kg bags of coffee this year.  The volume represents growth of 26.2%, or 8.6 million bags more than in the previous harvest, which totaled 32.94 million bags.
