Three Months of Brazilian Movies in Europe

Considered the greatest itinerating Brazilian movie exhibit in Europe, the Plural Brazil Festival reaches its ninth edition in 2006. The festival is part of the Culture Cup, organized by the Ministry of Culture.

This year, the exhibit will visit 13 cities in three countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The exhibit begins on October 12, in Munich, and ends in January 2007.

A total of 15 short films from seven Brazilian states (Rio de Janeiro, Ceará, Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Minas Gerais) will be exhibited, as will five long films, all about "Diversity and Identity".

According to a spokesperson for the festival, the schedule includes some video exhibitions in program Revealing the Brazils, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Institute Marlin Azul.

Another highlight is the organization of the second Brazil + Plural, with a debate about audio-visual productions by social movements in the country.

The program of the festival may be found on web page www.brasilplural.org in Portuguese and in German. The 9th Brazil Plural is sponsored by Brazilian oil giant Petrobras and the Ancine (National Law for Incentives to Culture).
