At Brazil’s Dalutex Customer Creates Fabric’s Print and Color

Garment manufacturer Dalutex, which has a factory in Sorocaba, in the southeastern Brazilian state of São Paulo, wants to increase its foreign sales in 2007.

Currently, the main destination market abroad is the neighboring Argentina, which answers to 50% to 60% of exports of the producer from São Paulo.

Countries like the United States, Canada, Mexico, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and South Africa are also on the list of importers.

"Our prices cannot compete with the Chinese, but the finishing and the top quality raw material are our differentials," stated the company export manager, Alexandre Fischer.

"That is not to mention exclusiveness. The client chooses the print and the color and we produce the clothes, even if the quantity is small," explained Fischer.

According to him, it is constant investment in technology and modern machinery that results in fabrics with high quality and finishing. Eyeing new markets, Dalutex usually participates in fairs in the sector in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. In 2007 the organization plans to participate in Premiere Vision, in France.

The company invests in the foreign market without forgetting domestic clients. "We have grown very much on the foreign market. This is so true that we have doubled our production in the last two years," he commemorates. Dalutex produces 170 tons of fabric a month, and generates 120 direct jobs.

Three themes are part of the Dalutex 2007 winter collection, which was launched on December 18th in the city of São Paulo: Alfred Hitchcock, Punk Rock and the geometry of colors of the 1960s. The first two have the luxury of velvets, of knit fabrics, with perfect fit and extremely pleasant touch.

From Amni filaments, made by Rhodia, come microfibers with glossy and slippery aspects. The gloss of the metallic fabrics brings to mind the glamour of the 1980s.

Geometric prints are also gaining space, inspired on the end of the 1960s and early 1970s, with all the sophistication of the period. Special plain fabrics arise dominating the scene, and beside them, mixed colors. The color palette is broad and includes 40 tones.

Dalutex was established in the 1980s. The textile park, located in Sorocaba, São Paulo, covers an area of 15,000 square meters and is divided into three units: weaving, dying/finishing and printing.

With a productive capacity of 1,800 tons a year, Dalutex has as its basic principles exclusiveness and product quality. For this reason, the company invests constantly in sophisticated equipment and technology.

The factory also has a showroom in Bom Retiro neighborhood, in São Paulo, where, apart from their most recent releases, they make available to their customers digitalized files of prints that may be colored and printed, imported clothes, books and magazines for research.
