A First in Mexico: AeroMexico Flies Brazilian Embraer E-Jets

The Brazilian-made Embraer 190 jet will fly for the first time with a Mexican company. AeroMexico will operate four of these aircraft under an operational leasing contract with GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS). This order was already included in Embraer's backlog.

"We are delighted to make this deal public, confirming Embraer's long-term strategy to become an important player in the Latin American market," said Mauro Kern, Executive Vice President, Airline Market.

"The Embraer 190 aircraft will help AeroMexico's expansion in medium-density markets, given its size, excellent performance, passenger comfort and economics."

AeroMexico is the first airline to deploy a modern Embraer E-Jet out of Mexico City International Airport, and others. The Embraer 190 aircraft will comfortably accommodate 99 passengers in dual-class seating – 11 executive class and 88 coach. Deliveries are scheduled to begin during the second semester of 2007.

"We are excited to be the launch customer for the E-Jets family in Mexico," said Andres Conesa, President and CEO of the AeroMexico Consortium, S.A. de C.V. "The flexibility of the Embraer 190 will allow us to use the aircraft on both domestic and international routes, in airports at high altitudes and high temperatures, like the one in Mexico City."

The acquisition of the new Embraer 190 jets is part of the fleet renovation and expansion program of the Mexican consortium, which includes the participation of Aerolitoral, a subsidiary that currently operates 27 Embraer ERJ 145 jets on low-density regional, domestic and international flights out of Mexico's Monterrey International Airport. AeroMexico and Aerolitoral are part of the AeroMexico Consortium, created in January 2006.

Embraer 195

Embraer and Brazilian airline BRA Transportes Aéreos have signed a preliminary commercial agreement for 20 firm orders of the Embraer 195 jet, plus 20 options. The final contract for this transaction should be finalized, shortly, by both companies.

The value of the deal, at list price, is US$ 730 million, based on January 2007 economic conditions (not including optional equipment ordered by BRA), and could reach US$ 1.46 billion, if all the options are confirmed.

The new BRA Embraer 195 E-Jets will be configured with 118 single-class seats, with deliveries scheduled to start in the second half of 2008. With the recent announcement at the Paris Air Show, BRA will be the first Brazilian airline to operate the modern Embraer E-Jets in Brazil.

GECAS

Embraer received confirmation of three options for Embraer 190 jets from GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS). The total value of the new order, at list price, is US$ 103.5 million, based on January 2007 economic conditions.

"As one of Embraer's first E-Jets customers, GECAS has been very successful at placing our aircraft within a wide variety of airlines," said Mauro Kern, Embraer Executive Vice President, Airline Market.

"The confirmation of three more firm orders further strengthens the position of our E-Jets family in the commercial aviation market worldwide and Embraer's partnership with GECAS."

GECAS is the first company to order and receive all four E-Jets from Embraer: the Embraer 170, the Embraer 175, the Embraer 190, and the Embraer 195.

"We are pleased to be ordering more Embraer 190 E-Jets," said Henry Hubschman, President and CEO of GECAS. "The Embraer 170/190 family of 70 to 122-seat E-Jets has become a popular choice among airlines around the world."
