What To Use To Exfoliate

For dryness, exfoliation is important. Stop using mechanical exfoliation if you have dry skin. Due to the drying process, micro-tears are formed that are not beneficial for the skin.  AHAs are considered to be effective for people with dry skin. Glycolic acid can help to eliminate dead skin cells by promoting healthy skin

Sensitive Skin

Stop doing the scrubbing or using mechanical exfoliation processes as they are not good for sensitive skin types. This can irritate your skin and lead to redness. Always remember to apply it with a soft washcloth and avoid using the exfoliator having high chemicals. You should also try the salicylic acid peel if facing an acne problem.

Oily Skin

Manual exfoliation and brushing are suitable for people having oily and thicker skin. Oily skin provides one extra layer that can be removed by manual exfoliation. Using an exfoliator in circular motions is very necessary to get the best results. You can use any form of exfoliation if you are not facing any skin problems and complications.  For normal skin type, manual as well as chemical exfoliations are both suitable to use. To figure out which approach is better for your skin, might have to experiment on the little patch of skin.  

Skin Combination

Combination skin can need a mixture of chemical as well as mechanical exfoliation depending upon its need. But do not use both methods on the same day as it may result in irritation. Remember to use a moisturizer directly after exfoliation to remove the dryness of the skin.

How Often Should You Exfoliate

The amount of exfoliation is dependent on the type of skin and the type of exfoliation that people use to remove dead skin.  Many chemicals exfoliates are strong enough to cause damage to the skin. Generally speaking, exfoliating skin once a week is appropriate for dry skin. if you are having oily skin then you can repeat it twice or thrice. Do not over-exfoliate the skin area and it can cause redness and discomfort. It is better to talk to the dermatologist to seek guidance.
