Brazil: Dollar Inflow Falls Dramatically from US$ 85 Bi to US$ 5 Bi

Counting US dollar Brazil's flow of exchange (the sum of dollar inflow and outflow into Brazil) remained positive at US$ 7 million in the first week of December and accumulated US$ 5.397 billion this year.

The figures are much lower than the ones recorded during the same periods last year: US$ 2.660 billion and US$ 84.717 billion, respectively. The figures were disclosed today by the Central Bank of Brazil.

In the first five business days of the year, the financial account (recording of capital inflow and outflow at Stock Exchanges, investment in bonds, remittances of profits and dividends to foreign countries, foreign direct investment, among other operations) was negative at US$ 1.081 billion.

And the trade account, which includes balance of trade, advances on exchange contracts – ACC – and advance payment Advance on Export Contracts – ACE, ran a surplus of US$ 1.088 billion.

So far this year, the financial flow recorded a negative result of US$ 43.711 billion, as against a surplus of US$ 10.765 billion during the same period last year.

The trade account posted a US$ 49.107 billion surplus, as against US$ 73.952 billion in the same period last year. Exports totaled US$ 179.642 billion and imports reached US$ 130.535 billion. In the same period last year, the figures were, respectively, US$ 173.346 billion and US$ 130.535 billion.

    Economics
This is just the economics of the entire issue. We are in an economic recession. Many countries will see an outflow of money, especially the dollar as the credit markets become even tighter. Foreign investment is always much worse.

Ch.C is not going to take it lightly for your calling him a Jackass. He is absolutely ruthless and takes no prisoners. May God help you in your tireless efforts to domesticate him. I thought I would give you a friendly advice before getting off the battleground. All the best. 😉

    Nice work John
See, this is the good stuff the Swiss Jackass always ignores because he has a very narrow-minded vision of Brazil.

He just keeps pulling out the same old tired stats (how many times do we need to be told what the interest rates are in Brazil?).

He loves repeating himself..Liars lie, cheaters cheat, blah, blah.

You have a lot of nerve talking about others when your own countries principal means of wealth are your infamous Swiss Banks. Your country is rich off the illegal money of the most corrupt people on the planet.

Stick to Economics because your moral high-ground is disgusting.

You said it all ! I applaude.

Falupa “Many countries will see an outflow of money, especially the dollar as the credit markets become even tighter. Foreign investment is always much worse.”

So true. but from where will this outflow come ? Not only from foreigners as we constantly read, but also from locals who prefer safer investments than in their own countries !
A simple example : from 1998 to 2002 Brazilians individuals and companies SMUGGLED ILLEGALLY the equivalent of over US$ 100 billion…..out of Brazil…..to Miami and New York banks. Nothing to do yet with what foreign investors withdrew LEGALLY from the country !

    Dont worry for Switzerland !

    1) In this World Meltdown, our currency stayed as one of the world best.
    2) In this World Meltdown, our stock market remains the MOST RESILIENT OF ALL THE DEVELOPED NATIONS…MEANING IT WENT DOWN THE LEAST !!!!!!

    3) And despite this World Meltdown, our unemployment rate is still below 3 %. Will our unemployment rate go UP ! Of course yesss !
Lets be very bearish…and say it will go to 4 % ! That will still be one of the World Lowest !!!!!!! Not even half of the EU !!!!!

Enjoy your cheap readings ! We will enjoy our wealth and still enjoy our 2,4 vacation trips (official stats – sorry) per capita…. outside our country.
Of course on top of our inside country ski vacations !!!!!!!!
But lets be bearish again…we might as well go from 2,4 to 2,2 or 2 vacations trips per capita….outside our country…yearly.
Still far far more than others.

In my view, the Brazilian TV Novelas will do a killing next year ! Even a dinner at a Pizzeria will become expensive for most Brazilians ! Here even part time illegal maids can affford such “luxury” one or twice a week ! They can even send money back home in Brazil or wherever they come from…to feed their family ! They also can afford to buy a car with a 3,5 % leasing rate.
Better than in Brazil where the rate is 35 %….or 10 TIMES MORE !!!!!!

Credit Crisis ? Credit Crunch ? In Brazil…yessss ! Talk to your Master Lula !!!!!
There is Nooooo such things here. A friend just renewed his mortgage yesterday at 2,5 % for 5 years !!!!
Better than in Brazil where rates are 13-15 %….if my basic maths is better than yours.

    LAUGH….LAUGH….LAUGH….LAUGH !!!!

    Brasil
    2. O Brasil Àƒ© o Àƒºnico paÀƒs do hemisfÀƒ©rio sul que estÀƒ¡ participando do Projeto Genoma.

The TRADE account posted a US$ 49.107 billion surplus, as against US$ 73.952 billion in the same period last year
Something is Wrong. DEAD WRONG !
In 2007 your trade surplus was NOT US$ 74 billion
In 2008 your year to date trade surplus is NOT US$ 49 Billion

Cheater always cheat, liars always lie, hiders always hide.
And idiots always remain idiots : those believing the cheaters, liars and hiders !

    Simple as that !
