800 Exhibitors and 14 Countries in Rio for Oil Expo

Brazil is promoting starting today, September 11, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the 13th edition of the Rio Oil & Gas Expo. The event is the most traditional in the sector in Latin America.

According to information supplied by a spokesperson for the meeting, a total of 30,000 visitors and 800 exhibitors are expected from 14 countries.

The exhibitors include from great companies in the sector, like Petrobras, Shell and El Paso, to small companies that are suppliers of products and services. During the seminars, the main theme will be the future of the Brazilian self-sufficiency in oil, which was reached this year. Speakers from 19 countries will participate.

The Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), the National Organization of the Petroleum Industry (ONIP) and the Brazilian Petroleum and Gas Institute (IBP), which organizes the fair, are going to promote business roundtables between 200 small companies from nine states with large Brazilian companies in the area. The Sebrae expects a business volume of over R$ 30 million.

For small companies, other activities have been scheduled. Around 40 of them operate in the development of information technology for processes and products and are going to participate in a technology meeting in the petroleum and gas productive chain. The Sebrae is also going to promote a trade delegation to the fair, including 300 micro and small companies.

In the conference, topics to be discussed will include exploration, production and supply, the petrochemical industry, natural gas, social-environmental responsibility, and energy planning and regulation.

The event will cover an area of 30,500 square meters at Riocentro exhibition hall and should end on Thursday, September 14. Rio Oil & Gas has been taking place every two years since 1982.
