The Growth Group, consisting of Brazil and the United States, will have a meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday. Minister of Finance, Antonio Palocci, and the US Secretary of Treasury, John Snow, will analyze the world economic situation.
They will also examine investments in infrastructure, foreign trade, the role of research and innovation in productivity, and sustainable economic growth.
The Growth Group was formed in June 2003 by presidents George W. Bush and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva with the objective of deepening the bilateral dialogue on the ways and means to speed up growth and productivity, along with reducing poverty, while creating jobs.
The Palocci-Snow meeting will be followed by a lunch. At 2:30 pm there will be a joint news conference by the two ministers.
