Brazil Goes to Washington to Fix Its Social Security

Brazil’s Minister of Social Security, Amir Lando, initiated, yesterday, a series of contacts to incorporate more technological security into Brazil’s social security system.

Next week the Minister will sign a technical cooperation protocol for information security with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Minister will visit American institutions and universities in Atlanta to discuss other social security issues.

In Washington, he will meet with directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the World Bank (IBRD) to investigate the possibility of Social Security’s receiving investments in its security systems and in the reorganization of the list of contributors and eligible recipients.

Lando will also participate next week in the 43th session of the United Nations (UN) Social Development Commission, where the Brazilian social security system will be presented as an example of income distribution.
