Brazil and US Hold 16-Country War Games in Brasí­lia

The armed forces of sixteen American nations have begun computer simulated training exercises in BrasÀ­lia, capital of Brazil.

The exercise is called “Operation Keeping the Peace South 2005.” (OMPSul2005). It is being directed by Brazil and the United States. The event is taking place at the Blue Tree Hotel.


Participating nations are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guiana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, the United States and Uruguay.


Also present will be representatives of the UN and NGOs. This is the eleventh time these exercises have taken place and the number of participants is the largest yet.
