Adman at Center of Brazil’s Corruption Scandal Met Lula’s Chief of Staff Four Times

In testimony Wednesday, August 10, before the Vote Buying Parliamentary Inquiry (CPI), adman/businessman Marcos Valério declared that his election campaign financing operations were similar in 1998 and 2004.

In 1998, Valério worked with the PSDB candidate for governor of Minas Gerais, Eduardo Azevedo, and in 2004, he worked with the PT through the party treasurer, Delúbio Soares.

The adman at the center of the current government scandal declared that Delúbio Soares had made it possible for him to meet four times with the then presidential Chief of Staff, José Dirceu, always representing corporations that had business with the government.

Valério also declared that the former secretary of the PT, Silvio Pereira, asked him to help the ex-wife of José Dirceu get financing for an apartment and a job at the Banco de Minas Gerais (BMG).

However, Valério denied he had a pact with Delúbio Soares to raise capital.
